It’s a Fab Summer! (& our Farewell SALE continues…)
TGIF, crafty friends! It’s already the weekend and we are hoping to get into our craft space and create something wonderful over the weekend, but the summer fun outside is beckoning…how about you? We’ve got something to tempt you to get sticky and inky with some projects using our newly retired Pockets & Pages – Fab Frames Summer die set.
First up, designer Jean Manis created these two fun summery cards…here’s a note from Jean on her projects:
The outside edge of the Pockets & Pages – Fab Frames – Summer does not cut, so it can be placed inside a larger die. The palm was cut with the On the Line Beach Cutting Plate set and adhered directly to the cardstock background. The frame was added with foam adhesive. I couldn’t resist embellishing with the Little Bits – Flip Flops. For my second card, I used a different frame in the Pockets & Pages – Fab Frames – Summer set with a die in the Stitched Square Stacklets set to create a CAS masculine card for the car lover in your family.
Next up, designer Sharon Harnist created this wonderful layout using the third of the Fab Frames Summer dies. How cute is it?!
A note from Sharon on how she created this sweet layout…
This page is about a wonderful milestone in our family … our oldest daughter received her driving permit this past Fall {sniff!} so, of course, it HAD to be documented! For the background, I started with a piece of watercolor paper and used TE’s new inks to watercolor the background! First I wet the watercolor paper with clean water, then I simply tapped the ink pads onto an acrylic block and used a waterbrush to pick them up and brushed this wash over the wet paper. I find using an ink color a little darker than my intended outcome and watering it down a bit works very well. The ink colors I used were: Cookie Monster (sky), Granny Smith and Peapod mixed together (grass). After watercoloring the background and laying out my page, I decided the grass needed some texture, so I cut off the lower green part of the 8-inch page (so it would fit through my die cut machine) and dry embossed it with the Cable Knit Embossing Folder – I love how it turned out! I stamped the wonderful Go Beep sentiment with more of Taylored Expressions fabulous new ink onto a Label Stacklets 3 watercolor paper die cut. When TE came out with the adorable On the Road-Beetle die last month, I knew it would be perfect for this page! The car is popped up on foam tape over its coordinating Build a Scene-On the Road curvy road! The upper left photo collage is of my daughter reviewing her driving handbook last minute, on our way to the DMV, along with her ticket number for the waiting line and the current number board when we arrived. The lower right photo is her first drive as a permitted driver! This photo was printed at 3 inches square and topped with a silver metallic Pockets & Pages Fab Frames-Summer die cut. The photo is popped up on foam tape.
