BYOB – Build Your Own Bouquet with Bouquet Whimsy
Hey, crafty friends! It’s Taylor again today! I’ve had so much fun seeing what you’re excited about from this release and interacting with you on Facebook! I’ve got another project to share today, but first, if you haven’t seen the new goodies, you can click below to check them out!
We’ve been taking a long walk through the garden this week as we check out all of the new florals in our collection! Today’s floral set is my personal favorite from the new release!
These folk-style flowers, illustrated by Heather Nichols, are both cute and whimsical and can lend toward rustic or bold color combinations. Can you guess which direction I went!? Yep… BOLD! *wink*
So let’s start things off with a pretty bouquet of flowers that I created with the new Bouquet Whimsy stamp set and coordinating dies. In the video below, I’ll share my tips and tricks for stamping a whole pile of blooms in order to create several cards:
Here’s a closer look at the products that I used for my project. I love that there are so many different elements that can be combined – flowers and greenery of all sizes, single stems, a bouquet of stems – so many possibilities!
After setting up the stamps in my MISTI, I was able to stamp a whole pile of flowers and then begin arranging them on my card front. Once I built the bouquet just the way I wanted, I was picked it up with a piece of Press ‘n Seal to keep all the elements in the perfect position.
Next, I blended a bit of ink onto the center of my cardstock for a little extra depth. I adhered the bouquet over the blended area and finished off the project with the word ‘mom’ die cut from the Building Blocks stamp.
And now, here’s one last bundle of inspiration from a couple of our talented Creative Team members:
Gayatri Murali put together a gorgeous bouquet of blue flowers using the Bouquet Whimsy set and stamping the flowers in Blueberry and Gumball inks. I absolutely love that she set her bouquet into a jar stamped with the Mason Jar stamp set and added the Mother’s Day sentiment onto the jar from the Penned Pretty stamp set.
Jill Hawkins used the berry sprig from the Bouquet Whimsy set and stamped a pattern with it for her card. She used the Masking Stencils – Rectangles collection to contain her stamped pattern to one area of her card. This gives me all sorts of ideas for stamping my own patterns for projects using this set. There are so many elements in the stamp set to choose from!
And last, but not least, a few more samples using the Doodle Flowers Background stamp and Penned Pretty sentiment set designed to fit inside the open oval of the background. These whimsical hand-drawn flowers are perfect to color with your favorite medium; markers, liquid watercolor, colored pencils, and even blender brushes!
Jill Hawkins broke out her Copic markers to color this card! She used ‘happy birthday’ from the Penned Pretty stamp set in the opening and personalized the card using the ‘Mom’ word from the Building Blocks – Her stamp and coordinating Building Blocks die.
Heather Nichols embossed the Doodle Flowers Background on watercolor cardstock using white embossing powder. She used liquid watercolors to add the light wash over the whole image and then added color to the flowers and leaves. Wherever the image is embossed, it resists the liquid watercolor. Heather added the ‘I love you’ sentiment from Penned Pretty and also personalized her card with the word ‘Mom’ from the Building Blocks – Her stamp and coordinating Building Blocks die.
One last thing before I let you go today…
