Taylored Expressions December Calendar Challenge
Good morning! Today is officially the last Calendar Challenge of 2012 and I must admit I’m a little sad! It’s been so fun seeing all of the Baker’s Dozen calendars and getting new ideas for displaying these practical projects throughout the year. We’re also offering a HUGE $150 prize drawing for anyone who participates in 10 out of the 12 months of calendar challenge. Even if you haven’t started your calendar project there’s still time to get in on the drawing. Click here for all the details. I’ll be announcing the winner on January 1st!
I’ve been using a magnetic acrylic frame and the Mini Tear Off calendar for my monthly project this year. I just taped the calendar to the outside of the frame with sticky tape
so that I can rip off the month when it’s finished and swap out the
insert for something new. Then I plan to gather
all of the monthly inserts and package them up along with a 2013 mini calendar and give the whole set as a Christmas gift!
For December I used the Winter Wonderland stamp set and dies with a red and green color scheme:
I started by stamping the snowflakes in Colorbox Warm Red, Olive Pastel, and Lime Pastel. I cut out three snowflakes and then adhered them onto Choice Buttercream paper. I could have stamped directly onto the buttercream, but die cutting the shapes first added an extra layer of dimension. The patterned paper is from Authentique’s Festive 6×6 pad. And while I love the beauty of snowflakes stamped onto paper, they’re not quite as beautiful when they’re piled above my mailbox and blowing around at 20 degrees below. So perhaps I should have created my own sentiment that says “Let it Snow” (but only a couple a inches that will melt off quickly). *grin*
