Blog Design Team: Aw, Nuts.
Happy Friday, crafty friends! Today, Blog Team Designer Lisa Henke has created a ‘grumpy’ little card that will make you giggle — it’s the perfect thing to send us off into the weekend!
And now, here’s Lisa to tell us all about her project…
Next to thank-you cards, birthday cards are probably the most common
card I create. Coming from a house that’s full of boys, I am always in need of a
more masculine or at least ‘guy-friendly’ card. One of my go-to color
combos for guys is Kraft, orange, green and turquoise, or some variation
of those colors. I used them on my card today. The Grumplings line of stamps from TE just make me giggle. Gosh, they are cute! I chose the adorable squirrel from Party Grumplings; he paired up nicely with the sentiment I wanted to use. I
used the warm grey Copic color family and colored him up, adding in
shading with some dotted details. I accented the little candle he’s
holding with clear Stickles. I used the matching Party Grumplings Dies to cut him out.I created a polka dotted frame for my main image panel with two of the dies from the Build a Tag 4 die set. I cut the large stitched tag from the Build A Scene 6×6 paper pack,
and then lined up the next-smaller sized tag and ran it through my
machine a second time to create the frame. I added in a piece of Candy Corn card stock that was cut with the large Build A Tag 4 die,
and cut off the top two-thirds of it. I adhered it to the back of green polka
dotted tag so I had a solid base on which to stamp my sentiment.I wanted the Cookie Monster cardstock banner piece from Label It to
hang over the edge of my tag panel, but the die piece was just a tad
too short. I have an easy trick to fix that: Snip the Label It banner
piece in half and spread the two cut pieces out. Use an embellishment to
“hide” the seam. Here I simply used the Party Grumpling squirrel. It’s so
easy!A few extra details I added in were some Lilly White Sprinkles, a baker’s twine bow and a fun Bead Board embossed background.
Thank you for sharing this fun-filled card with us today, Lisa! You can find more of Lisa’s beautiful work on her blog, My Little Creative Escape. Have a joyful day!
