Blog Design Team: Smile! It’s Friday!
Hey there, crafty friends! Have you had a stressful week? It’s been a bit crazy around here as we prepare for Release Week (join us on Monday for sneak peeks and prizes!) We’ve all agreed to turn our frowns upside down because today is Friday! Lucky for us, Blog Design Team member Lisa Henke has got a card that will have you chasing rainbows…
And now, here’s Lisa to tell us all about her project…
Rainbows and coffee, two things that sure do put a smile on my face. I
thought in the dead of winter a sweet little rainbow smile card would
brighten your day! I did a lot of die cutting to get this card started!
I
used the Pocket & Pages – Circle Words and cut the ‘smile’ die three times in 5 rainbow colors – Cherry Pop, Lemon Meringue, Candy Corn, Cookie Monster, and Granny Smith.
I glued them together to give them some dimension and then snipped out the word ‘smile’. I love how
easy this was to do and gives you another way to use your dies.I adhered the rainbow smiles onto a Sugar Cube 3.5 x 5.5 panel, all the way to the left side. This allowed for the perfect space to add a darling Little Bits – Coffee to Go to my card front. I cut the cup from some light gray card stock, the top from Sugar Cube and the sleeve from Toffee card stock. I even ran the sleeve through my crimper for added realistic detail. I used the Love Confetti Little Bits to cut out a Cherry Pop heart for the coffee cup and used a trio of Oreo hearts for confetti “steam”.
I kept my card on the skinny side and used a top folding card measuring 3.75 x 5.5 and then I adhered a strip of Rainbow Brights 6×6 striped paper along the left side. I popped up the main rainbow smiles panel and adhered it to the card base with foam tape. I tied on some Black Burlap Twine for the finishing touch.
Thank you for sharing this fun card with us today, Lisa! And you are absolutely right — rainbows and coffee go together for a smile! You can find more of Lisa’s fabulous work on her blog, My Little Creative Escape. Have a joyful day!
