What a fabulous and fun birthday card Vera crafted! Love that adorable lion!
I volunteer one morning a week at the local elementary school in the media center shelving books, helping kids check out, and pairing up kids with books I think they’ll like. I really enjoy my time at Coopersville South Elementary! Next week starts our book fair, so we’ll be extra busy!
I’m also blessed to be the Meals Ministry Coordinator at my church. Whenever a member has surgery, a new baby or another life event that makes preparing meals extra challenging, I call my team of meals ministry members and get a schedule of meals coordinated to help out. The best perk of the job is getting to hold the new babies when I take a meal to their tired parents!

As is Vera, I am involved with Pug Rescue. I make and donate hundreds of “pug” cards for Pug Rescue of Florida to sell at fund-raisers. I am hoping to set up an Etsy shop soon to sell even more cards for them.

  • Eva Wierzbinski

There are 5 ladies in our card making group and we make holiday cards for Meals on Wheels. And this year, we also made Valentine’s Day cards too!! It’s always great fun making the cards but especially giving them to a great organization!

  • Mary-Anne V.

We spend a lot of time and effort at our church and that is one way we give back to the community. My 3 kids are all involved in scouts and they are always helping out in one way or another with community events. Very cute card by Vera…she has a great way to bring the stamps to life!

  • Christine Dring

What an adorable card! I like to give back to the community by helping out my elderly neighbors, whether it be shoveling snow off their porch/sidewalks, to helping in yard work when the weather is warm. Thanks for the chance!

  • KT Fit Kitty

This is adorable! I like Vera’s style! I think donations of cards to local fundraisers are a great way of giving back.

  • Rosandra Simmons

That is a super cute card. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that adorable lion. I’m involved in my home church mission initiatives so there’s different things I do. However, the main thing in my local community is rebuilding of our city. Me and my boys have donated to help tornado victims in our hometown, Rowlett, TX. Our neighborhood is a mile north of where the tornado stopped, and because we were blessed to suffer little damage, we are doing what we can to help those that lost SO much more.

  • Julieann

Love this card it is so pretty, and the stamps are the cutest.

  • Kathy J in Ellicott City

My favorite way to give back to my community is through my church. We have a card committee.

  • Kathy D

What a fun birthday card, Vera! I have also donated to Caring Hearts the past 2 years, such a great card drive.

  • KathleenR

Your card is beautiful. I donate my cards to Meals on Wheels. They like to give every client a birthday card but sometimes they do not have any, so they make one out of a half sheet of printer paper with a down loaded compute picture of a cake on it. I new I could do a little better for them, so I make most of my cards as birthday ones.

  • KathleenR

Your cards are all beautiful. I donate the majority of my cards to my local Meals on Wheels. The give every client a card on their birthday but sadly sometimes they do not have any so they use a half sheet of printer paper to make a card with a down loaded picture of a cake. I knew that I could do better for them so I make most of my cards as birthday ones.

I donated cards to the Caring Hearts Drive last year and to OWH for several years. I also donate to any card drives that I see, especially for kids. I donate handmade cards to the senior center in town as well, where they sell them at the craft fair and in their office. Sharing my cards with others makes crafting even more fun.

  • MargeryC

What a lovely card. Love the shimmery cupcakes-good enough to eat 🙂 I volunteer at my children’s school. There are always events and classroom activities which need adult help.

  • Mary Beth Krakowski

This is an adorable card, what fun!

Such a lovely birthday card! I love the color palette and the scalloped border. These two stamp set are so fun and joyful. Great idea to pair them up! I make cards to send to various card drives when I can and donate to various local charities. I just recently heard about the Caring Hearts Card Drive (I’m fairly new to card making) and plan on participating this year. What a wonderful initiative!

I have participated in Vera’s Caring Hearts drive for the past several years and get great joy in sharing my cards with others. I made cards for Operation Write Home for three years, until they closed, and currently donate cards to two local nursing homes and to Meals On Wheels. Having worked with seniors for much of my life, I know how appreciative they can be with a handmade card of small gift to let them know they are not forgotten.

  • Lisascreativeniche

I love to donate craft supplies to children’s hospitals and schools.

  • Julie L

  • Sheri

I am a part of the Caring Hearts Drive. I receive the huge boxes of cards and then sort and give them to nursing homes in my area. I can tell you first hand how they brighten the days of some lonely residents. Such a wonderful idea you had. thank you for letting me be a part of it. I also am the only card minister at my church. I make cards for anyone the pastor wants to send a card to. Shut ins, college students, get well, sympathy, new baby, baptism, conformation etc. I so enjoy it.

  • Sheri

Love your card! I participate in the Caring Hearts drive and in fact receive the big boxes of cards to take to nursing homes in my area. I can tell you first hand how much it brightens the day for a lot of people! Thank you so much for doing this.

  • Becca Yahrling

Wow, all the colors on this card are just fabulous – love it! Unfortunately, we have a lot of homeless people in our community. Every once in awhile I like to get a meal for one of them. I know it isn’t much, but at least I know someone got to eat that day that otherwise may not have.

  • Debbi Vasel

    Such cute stamp sets!
My husband and I give to the community by visiting the folks in the nursing homes, Christmas caroling there during the holidays, holding services on Sunday’s, and I make cards and crafts for the folks there.

  • Helen Gullett

YAY Vera! Love seeing her works at TE blog 😀 What a cute card for sure.

My friends and I love to get together once every couple months to make cards to send out to the missionaries our church support and also every October we always get together to make hair bows to put inside the shoe boxes for children.
I love making card sets to just put inside our church missionary cabinet so that when they come visiting they can grab the card box that they can use.

  • renee milner

Great sentiment and such a fun, beautifully colored card! I’ve been really involved in PTA at our sons’ schools for many years. And we help our furry friends as much as we can. I’m evidently the crazy cat lady of our neighborhood—we have 3 right now that have showed up and decided to stay. We even have a nonfurry rescue 🙂 Hubby’s coworker found a hermit crab in their backyard, so we took it in to live with the one we already had.

  • Karen B.

Congrats Vera! Cute card. My bous and I rake leaves for the elderly in the fall. I am also interested in starting a card drive…Valentine’s for Veterans.

  • sharla~

This is so cute, I adore that cupcake tower!! Yum!!

    • sharla~

Sorry, didn’t get the giving part done, I like to be aware of my surroundings and try to send up a little prayer that I might be at the right place, right time in order to help someone. Sometimes it’s just helping someone with a door, or a few dollars and then at church we do humanitarian projects quite often.

  • Tona

    Such a sweet card!
I regularly donate to my local food bank as well as thrift stores.

  • Amy Cooley

I give back to teachers and other school staff all year long. By combining my crafting and baking, I try to make them feel appreciated for all they give to the future generation.

  • Sharon W.

Love your card! Little cupcakes are great…whether paper or the real thing! Our church does many outreach events in our city and I do whatever I can when I can…donate time or money, etc.

  • Brandi R

Sweet card! Love that darling lion and the tower of yummie cupcakes!

Animals are my greatest weakness! I care for many of the strays in my neighborhood and have brought in more than I care to admit….LOL. On the same note, I have a soft spot for the homeless (see a trend here ;-)) Being in Ohio, we typically get pretty cold Winters. I’ve made blankets and donated to the homeless. This year, I plan a slew of scarves and some more blankets for Winter 2016.

  • Iris Esther López

Welcome, Vera. So glad to see your creations. Pet rescue is a cause that’s near and dear to me. I donate to help rescues keep saving animals.

I’m part of a card ministry in my church – we send hand-made cards to members and others in nursing homes and shut-ins. I also personally send many hand-made cards.

  • Marcia Nelson

Many years ago, a bunch of ladies at our church got together and started making cards to send to the shut-ins, sick, bereaved, special anniversaries and birthdays, confirmation etc. Our group has flourished and we now have a card
rack in the back of the church and we donate cards for fund-raisers and special events also.

  • susan hatfield

  • Vivian C.

Welcome Vera. Your card is adorable! I love the shimmer of the cupcakes, makes them even more festive. One of the things I think is very important is children having access to nutritious meals. Supporting various charities, food banks and school programs help make this possible.

  • Jodi

What a cute card and a great guest designer! 🙂

  • Beverly

Cute, cute card and special thank you for your care program.

  • Sue G.

My son-in-law recently became a pastor and I worked feverishly to give my daughter a box of cards that she could send to parishioners. I made sympathy, get well and thank you cards. She and her husband were so grateful and the congregation members are loving receiving the cards.
