World’s Best
Hello, friends! This week is just flying by, isn’t it? With Mother’s Day in the recent past, I’ve been looking ahead and thinking about Dad’s Day. I love this holiday. I always feel like the dads in my life don’t get shown the love they deserve quite as much as they should. So I was really excited when I saw these two projects from designers Shelly Mercado and Charmaine Ikach. When you see them, I think you’ll be thinking about those special dads in your life, too! Check them out…
A Note from Shelly…
I wanted to create a simple Father’s Day card that could also work as a birthday card. I dug out some fun alphabet dies, Tall & Skinny Alpha, and used them to create the word “dad”. I paired the dies with word images from the Best in the World set and love how well they work together! The Little Bits Fishing Pole is perfect for the fisherman in your life and the little fishies are the cutest! I used the Build a Scene Rolling Waves dies to help tie the card together. I think a card like this is a perfect card from the kids, to their dad.
Next up is Charmaine with a very different, but equally awesome card…
A Note from Charmaine…
With Father’s Day coming up, it is always a good idea to have some Father’s Day cards on hand. I used the Graphic Greetings – Dad stamp set for this card and I really love how easy it is to make a masculine card with this single stamp. As crazy as it may sound, the papers are from the Playful Patterns – Haunted 6×6 Paper Pack! I just thought these colors of paper and the patterns looked a little more masculine, so I worked them into this card.
The sentiment was stamped in Sugar Cube ink and then embossed in white. This is a great trick for making images stand out on heavily patterned paper. I cut thin strips of Oreo cardstock and added a “frame” around the sentiment just for interest. I’m usually hesitant to add sequins or ribbon to masculine cards, so I’m always looking for other ways to add some embellishment. This card is simple, but I think it’s perfect to let that special dad know how special he is!

Thank you, Shelly and Charmaine, for sharing two such different, yet equally fabulous Father’s Day cards. My own dad would love either one of these and I can’t wait to get inky to create cards for all the fathers in my life. Tune in tomorrow for more inspiration as we get ready for Memorial Day weekend! Have a joyful day!
