June Sneak Peeks Day 1 – Hey, Crafty Friend!
Hey, crafty friends! It’s Taylor here today, which means that it’s the first day of sneak peeks for our June release! The Creative Team and I have been busy this month and I’m excited to start sharing! There is so much to see and LOTS to get excited including as we explore the red, white, and blue for 4th of July, a splashy summer theme, and something I think you’re all going to love – I’m calling this theme Hey, Crafty Friend! You’re crafty and you have crafty friends so I hope you love it! Here’s an ‘at-a-glance’ look at the June Release and what you can expect from sneak peeks this week:
- This release includes over 25 new products including stamps (plus the debut of our new Clearly Crafty collection!), dies, stencils, a new {Frame-worthy} design, and 3 new liquid watercolor additions. Everything will be available at the TE webstore on Thursday, June 6th at 9am CST.
- Each day will feature a new how-to tip, technique, or process video from me.
- Get a chance to win it before you can buy it by commenting with your answer to my Question of the Day (located at the bottom of each sneak peek blog post)
- Last, but certainly not least – don’t miss this month’s special offer (details below).
We are celebrating the one-year anniversary of the introduction of TE Liquid Watercolors with our June Special Offer; 20% off all liquid watercolor, including the 3 new colors debuting this week. Now’s the perfect time to stock up on the game-changing Liquid Shimmer and fill in the missing colors from your collection! Offer expires June 10th, 2019.
Here’s a quick look at the three new colors joining the liquid watercolor collection this month: Pineapple, Lime Zest, and Blue Raspberry. You’ll see them ‘splashed’ in throughout the projects this month.
All right, are you ready for the crafty goodness that I have to share with you today!? In today’s video, I am sharing our brand new Gatefold Reveal die designed specifically to go with the Hey, Crafty Friend stamp set. I’ll also be using the new Happiness is Craftiness stamp set offered in clear photopolymer, and the Better Half Cutting Plates sized to fit perfectly on a gatefold card front.
I’ve had so much fun putting together a collection of stamps that are perfect for celebrating our crafty hobby! Some crafty friends live nearby and others are far away so I included sentiments that work for both! Hopefully, you picked up a few tips and tricks for mass producing a set of crafty cards for ALL your crafty friends!
Here’s a closer look at the project that I shared in the video…
It’s probably no surprise that I chose ROYGBIV for my color combo on this set of crafty cards! I die cut the half cutting plate design with each color of the rainbow and then pieced the strips back into a Sugar Cube die cut in rainbow order. Cool thing – all of the pieces that fall out from the design are the same size so you don’t have to keep track of putting the exact piece in the opening it came from!
Once my card fronts were finished I worked on putting together the gatefold reveal on the inside. You’ll see in the video that I used various colors of the rainbow for my inside panel and chose several different sentiments from the Hey, Crafty Friend. The most fitting for me is probably the one pictured above – “Can you believe I actually mailed this!?” *grin*
It’s always good to see a few different ways to use the same products and I didn’t want you to miss this cute card from Heather Nichols featuring the Gatefold Reveal and her new Craftiness is Happiness clear stamp set…
Heather used the diagonal striped Better Half Cutting Plates die on the front of her card and created a fun rainbow striped background by embossing the images from the Craftiness is Happiness stamp set and blending over the top. She used the same technique on the inside panel too!
Just in case you missed it – the new Craftiness is Happiness set is the first set that we’re releasing in our new Clearly Crafty collection! We’ll be re-branding some of our previously released Clearly Planned stamp sets to this collection over the next several months and you’ll see a few clear stamp sets mixed into our new releases. I will probably always prefer red rubber stamps but I’ve come to find that clear stamps have a place in my collection too! From a production standpoint, they are better for smaller images (did you know all of our red rubber stamps are hand-trimmed with a scroll saw and trimming very small images can be dangerous for fingers?). Clear stamps also work really well for layering stamped images so we may choose to produce in photopolymer in those instances too. We are thrilled to be offering a clear stamp collection to you and hope that you are just as excited as we are!
Now how about some more crafty stamps! Illustrator Danielle Lounds knocked it out of the part with the newest addition to the Cutting Edge series featuring a craft desk and some crafty clutter. Let’s be honest, every crafter is a little bit of both, right!?
In addition to the craft setup, we also have several desk accessories and a crafty cat in the coordinating Do Something Creative stamp set which also has coordinating dies to cut out the elements and place them into your scene.
Jill Hawkins created this fun crafty desk scene with the Do Something Creative stamp set and coordinating dies that, um, looks a little too neat and clean compared to what my craft desk normally looks like! I definitely agree with the sentiment though, considering how long I have been delving into ink and paper!
But then I saw this card by Jill using the new Cutting Edge – Crafty set and a critter from the Crafty Grumplings stamp set. Yep, this one describes me perfectly! How about you? Which card shows your space more accurately?
Next up is the new Create in Color Background stamp from Illustrator Nancy McKinney and several coordinating sentiments in the Complementary stamp set. The Create in Color Background stamp features a line up of colored pencils that fill the card front. It’s perfect for coloring with several different mediums! The Creative Team has done amazing work using colored pencils, alcohol markers, and watercolor and their results are all equally jaw-dropping!
Angelica Conrad did this gorgeous no line coloring with the Create in Color Background stamp. I feel like I could pick one of the pencils right up off the card and I love the sentiment that she used from the Do Something Creative stamp set.
Noriko Fairchild created a background using the Create in Color Background stamp with the pencils pointing in from each side of her project. I love how she just highlighted a few colors and added several of the fun sentiments from the Complementary stamp set… after all, ‘complementary’ colors always have something nice to say. Get it? *grin*
And now I have one last crafty product to share with you today…
We have a new addition to the {Frame-worthy} collection! This set designed just for crafters includes 4 illustrations pre-printed on 100 lb. Sugar Cube cardstock that you can color with your favorite medium. The designs are sized 5″x7″ making them quick to color and easy to pop into a frame (or on a mini-clipboard like Keia did below!).
Keia Shipp-Smith colored up one of the new {Frame-worthy} – Crafty designs and she even added a few crafty accessories using the Little Bits – Scissors and Little Bits – Needle & Thread die collections. I love how that adds a bit of dimension to her project and I think this would make such a fun gift for a crafty friend!
My question of the day is: Who first introduced you to stamping? Which friend or family member do you hold responsible for your crafty addiction?
Today I’m giving away the Hey, Crafty Friend stamp set & Gatefold Reveal dies!
