Joy Baldwin has a trio of holiday cards to share today that all use the new Mini Slim Cable Knit stencil in their design. See how Joy created all of these cards from start to finish in the video below:
In the video, Joy uses the Mini Slim Cable Knit stencil to create three background in neutral colors. Two of the backgrounds focus on simple one color blending and the third steps things up with masking stencils and embossing. Joy completes the card designs using elements from the Jolly Holidays stamp set (+ coordinating dies) and Simple Strips – Christmas stamp (+ coordinating Simple Strips die).
The background on this first card is stenciled with Mushroom ink on Salt Water Taffy cardstock to create the look of a cozy gray sweater. Joy added a pair of mittens stamped with the Jolly Holidays set, the ‘warm winter wishes’ and ‘brrrrr’ sentiments, and a few Bits & Pieces – White Rhinestones to finish off the card.
Joy stenciled the knit background on this card with Chocolate Truffle ink on Toffee cardstock. She added the cute mug from the Jolly Holidays set to the card on a Stitched Rectangle Stacklets die cut, used Glossy Accents to add shine to the straw, and added a few Bits & Pieces – White Rhinestones for extra sparkle.
On this last card, Joy used the Masking Stencils – Circles set to mask off the area where she stenciled the knit design with Versamark ink. She embossed the design with clear embossing powder and then added the cute candy canes from the Jolly Holidays set, sentiments, and Bits & Pieces – White Rhinestones.
Check out the list below for the supplies that Joy used on all three cards:
Here’s the last roundup of inspiration for this week’s release from the TE Creative Team using a few of the new stencils:
The Mini Slim Cable Knit stencil (3.75″ x 6.75″) features an all-over stockinette knit design. The pattern creates a cozy backdrop for fall, winter, or Christmas themed projects!
Jill Hawkins used the Mini Slim Cable Knit stencil to create the background for this snarky Christmas card featuring one of the critters from the Hot Flash Grumplings stamp set. She dressed up the panda critter from the set in a winter jacket from the Sarcasti-chuck’s Wardrobe stamp set, but had to do a little creative trimming so then coat would fit…! The antlers and sentiment on this card are from the Big Grumpy – Christmas stamp set.
The antlers from the Big Grumpy – Christmas stamp set are making another appearance on this card by Kavya. She drew a bright red nose using a marker to complete the fun and creative Rudolph look. The background panels on the card feature the Mini Slim Cable Knit stencil in a few different color combinations and I am all about the splatters on the card base that looks like snow!
The Daisy Crazy stencil is the standard size (6″ x 6″) and features an all over pattern with a kaleidoscope feel. Use this stencil to add a feminine or whimsical feel to the background of your projects.
Kavya did masking to block off the triangular area on the bottom of the card and then she stenciled and embossed the Daisy Crazy stencil in gold over the top. The result is a very elegant Christmas tree look that is even more stunning with the gold over the Oreo cardstock. The sentiments on the card are from the Tag Team – Christmas stamp set and are embossed into the tree opening in gold to match the stenciled design.
The Mini Slim Sunray stencil (3.75″ x 6.75″) has a ray pattern that radiates out from a single point. Use the stencil to depict a sunny sky or highlight an image on your project. Note: the sunray is positioned to work perfectly with the square openings on the Mini Slim Trifold template & dies!
Arjita Sepaha Singh used the Mini Slim Sunray stencil to highlight the sentiment on her card created with The Light Shines stamp set. Just because a stencil is designed for a specific card size, doesn’t mean you can’t use it for other project sizes too! Also, this card design is a fantasic option to mass-produce using the easy to stamp tree image and sentiment from the set!
