In today’s video, Mindy Eggen shares three quick and easy Mother’s Day cards created with the Best Buds Stamp & Stencil Combo set, On the Block – Mom stamp (+ coordinating die), and Mini Strips – Your’e the Best stamp. Watch how Mindy’s cards come together below:
In the video, Mindy walks you through how to use the Bust Buds Stamp & Stencil Combo set. She stamps the background image in Oreo ink and adds color through the stencils with her Blender Brushes. Mindy show three different color combinations for the background and then uses them to create three different cards for Mother’s Day. The sentiments on the cards are created with the On the Block – Mom stamp (+ coordinating die) paired with sentiments from the Mini Strips – You’re the Best stamp.
Here’s a closer look a the new products that Mindy used on her cards:
Get ready to blend your love of stamping and stenciling with our Best Buds Stamp & Stencil Combo! Simply stamp the background of flower centers, leaves, and stems. Then, use the etched guides on the first stencil to line things up perfectly, add a shower of flowers in one color, and then add a second layer of another color doing the same thing with the second stencil.
Stamp 10 sentiments that celebrate moms, dads, and gratitude to the people who support us with the new Mini Strips – You’re the Best stamp. Use the sayings individually or combine them together for more possibilities! Cut all of the sentiments with one pass through your die cut machine using our innovative alignment guides with the coordinating Mini Strips or Mini Strips – Asymmetrical dies.
We’re adding to the On the Block collection with the new On the Block – Mom stamp and coordinating On the Block – Mom Shadow die. The sans-serif block letters slightly overlap and are not perfectly aligned, adding a whimsical charm to the word.
This first card features a pastel rainbow of flowers in the background. Mindy used Pineapple and Strawberry Milkshake inks to blend the first stencil layer and then Salt Water Taffy and Lavender Glaze inks for the second layer. In the video, Mindy shares a few great tips to prevent your colors from blending into each other when you want some of the flowers to be a solid color and some to have a blended effect. The smaller leaves on the background are colored with Copic Markers, but you could leave them uncolored as well!
Mindy added the ‘mom’ word stamped with On the Block – Mom and sentiment from the Mini Strips – You’re the Best stamp onto a Heart Stacklets die cut to layer over the floral background created with the Best Buds Stamp & Stencil Combo set on this card. She stenciled the flowers using Pineapple and Strawberry Milkshake inks for the different layers. I love the little butterflies that Mindy added from the Social Butterflies Cling & Clear Combo set that are embossed in white on vellum!
For this last card from Mindy, she cut down her floral background and layered the strip across a background stamped with the Wood Plank Background stamp. The flowers are stenciled with Pineapple and Salt Water Taffy inks with the ‘mom’ word stamped in Blueberry ink and sentiment strip embossed in white on Blueberry cardstock layered over the top. Another embossed vellum butterfly from the Social Butterflies Cling & Clear Combo set is the perfect finishing touch!
Check out the list below for the supplies that Mindy used on her set of Mother’s Day cards:
Here’s a more in-depth look at a few of the new products from the Mother’s Day release, along with inspiration from the TE Creative Team:
Melody Rupple created a soft and pretty floral background on this Mother’s Day card using the Best Buds Stamp & Stencil Combo set. She embossed the background in gold and added the flowers with Lavender Glaze and Confetti Cake inks – I love the small touches of green that she added to a few of the blooms that could also pass as leaves! For the sentiment, Melody embossed the On the Block – Mom in gold and added sentiment strips underneath that are stamped with the Mini Strips – You’re the Best stamp.
I love the flowers in purple and yellow on this card created by Latisha Yoast with the Best Buds Stamp & Stencil Combo set. Latisha stamped the background with Lime Zest ink on Sea Salt cardstock and added the flowers with Plum Punch and Pineapple inks. The cute white polka dots are added with a white paint pen and I love the whimsical, wildflower look! The ‘thinking of you’ sentiment is from the Botanical Sentiments stamp set is stamped in Plum Punch on an Inside Bracket Stacklets die cut.
The new Clearly Crafty Picked Posies stamp set (+ coordinating dies) includes flowers, stems, greenery, and more that you can arrange to create all sorts of floral looks. This set is wonderful for your favorite coloring techniques! Pair the florals with the coordinating Gathered Greenery Background stamp that features a botanical leaf pattern.
Jill Hawkins created a few pretty coneflower stems using the Picked Posies stamp set. She colored the flowers with Copic markers and layered them over a background stenciled with the Mini Slim – Cable Knit stencil. I love that Jill cut the layer out using a Petite Scallop Rectangle Stacklets die and used a Diagonal Stitch Rectangle Stacklets die to add the framed impression. The ‘I’m thankful for you’ sentiment is from the Mini Strips – You’re the Best stamp and is embossed in white on Oreo cardstock.
Kayva has stunning coloring skills and they definitely shine on this card that she created with the Picked Posies stamp set. She colored the flowers using Copic markers and colored pencils on Sugar Cube cardstock and then colored the edges of the die cut images to coordinate with the Mulled Wine card base. The background is stamped with the Gathered Greenery Background stamp in Mulled Wine ink for a great tone on tone effect. The ‘mom’ word is created with the On the Block – Mom stamp and I love how Kavya cut the letters apart to use the word vertically and how she added shading to the letters with Copic markers, colored pencils, and a white gel pen.
Add a pierced pattern detail to your A2 card background with the Pierced Circles Cutting Plate die. The cutting plate impresses a pierced layered circle design into your card that will coordinate with floral designs and more!
This card by Natasha Valkovskaya features a Pierced Circles Cutting Plate die cut layered behind an arrangement of flowers from the Picked Posies stamp set. Natasha used the cutting plate with Toffee cardstock which creates a wonderfully neutral background that will coordinate with so many different looks. The flowers on the card, painted with liquid watercolors, encircle the ‘birthday wishes’ sentiment from the Botanical Sentiments stamp set that is embossed in gold on a vellum strip. This card design would be wonderful for other occasions as well by just swapping out the sentiment!
