Sweet Holiday Joy
Better late than never, huh!? Yesterday was pretty packed, so Happy Cupcake Day on Saturday! 🙂 Big thank you to Manna…she sent me this adorable cupcake stamp of my very own! I started by stamping the cupcake and drawing in the holly leaves to make it a Christmas cupcake (kudos to Ellen Hutson for that fabulous idea!). I colored the cupcake with Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol and a stump. I restamped the bottom portion of the cupcake onto tin foil with black Stazon, cut out, and glued onto the page for the tin baking cup. Then I stamped the letters J & Y from Letterpress Alpha and the Holiday sentiment from Many Merry Messages. I edged the image with silver paint pen, then doodled and stitched around it and added stickles to the candle flame. The background is stamped with Dotted and the patterned paper is KI Memories. I tied mini red ric rac and silver cording around the card and added a small charm (which is hard to see in the pic) with green stitched ribbon. The charm says “sweet” which is hand-lettered. I tried using my Karen Foster snap stamps on the charm, but I just couldn’t get the right look. I made this card because so many of my fondest memories of Christmas are tied to the sweet treats we eat at this time of year. As I get older I’m realizing these same sweets I ate as a kid are now doing different things to my body (a.k.a. adding pounds to my hips). I try to stay away a bit more than I used to, but I’m still gonna indulge in a yummy piece of pecan pie and some pecan brittle too! 🙂 Hope you all have a fabulous Christmas weekend!
