A Day Old Cupcake…
I’m a day late with the cupcake card, but better late than never, huh? I used the color challenge from a couple weeks ago for this card (view challenge here). The colors are Pink Passion, Gable Green, and Lavendar Lace. Bold Brights is my least favorite color family, but I have to admit after seeing all the samples using this color combo, I was excited to try it. I also used the sketch challenge for my layout (view challenge here). I love doing the sketch challenges because they’re such a great way to get you to try something different or get out of a design “rut”. The Pink Passion card base is stamped with the Dotted background. The purple piece is embossed with my Cuttlebug Bloom Dots A2 folder. I used white craft ink to highlight the embossed parts. I was going for a tag look with this layer of the sketch so I added ribbons on the end. The image is by Stampendous… it’s Fluffles! Even if you don’t like cats, you have to like Fluffles! He’s so cute! 🙂 Big thanks to Judy Huettel for sending me some adorable Fluffles cupcake images! My friend Jami issued me a challenge a while back… no more Prismacolor pencils!! Whenever I need to color an image I ALWAYS reach for my colored pencils and gamsol, but I’m proud to say I haven’t used them in over 2 weeks! Don’t get me wrong, I still *love* my Prismas, but it has been so good for me to experiment with my other coloring mediums (watercolor crayons, aquapainter, markers). This image was colored with watercolor crayons. I mounted it on a scallop punch and highlighted the scallops. Special note: Fluffles is wearing my favorite color pink and is covered in Stickles! 😉 The happy birthday sentiment is from Amuse. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful Saturday!
