Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #36
Whew… it’s finally Friday! I say that because my friend Ani who works with me made this comment on Tuesday, “It’s Friday today, right?” Ummm… not quite. Since then I’ve been convinced everyday is Friday, but now today it is finally true! Are you ready for another sketch challenge!? This is a sketch that was concepted purely on the computer without actually trying anything with paper. A sketch rarely happens for me in that way, but I really like how this one turned out! I grabbed my Sweet Celebration set and my JustRite Brayton font for this card. For the slanted piece I used a super wide piece of striped grosgrain ribbon. On each side of the ribbon is a strip of pink rhinestones. I colored the image with Copic markers. The “Life Is
Uncertain” sentiment was laid out on the Harmony Rectangular stamper and the 25 pt. size of Brayton font. I tried something a little different for the “Eat Dessert First” portion. I took a picture to better explain. I used the 25 pt. font and the Harmony Oval II stamper. Since the 25 pt. font has two grooves and there is only one groove in the border of the oval stamper, I only snapped one of the grooves into place and left the rest of the letter hanging over the edge of the stamper. It’s not super sturdy, but it served the purpose I was going for.. a curved sentiment! Now it’s time for me to introduce you to this week’s Featured Cupcake
Sampler. I’ve long-admired Silke Ledlow’s sweet and simple style. The color combination and yummy cupcakes she used on her sketch sample make the cutest card! You can check out all the details on her blog My Life. Thanks so much for sampling the sketch this week, Silke! Now it’s your turn to try the sketch! I’ll chose the most clever, creative, and cute creation from the submissions this weekend to be the Featured Cupcake Sampler next week. Your design and blog will be featured on my blog during Cupcake Friday. You’re not required to use cupcakes for the challenge, but if you got ’em why not use ’em!? You’re welcome to create something other than a card, just stick as closely to the sketch as possible and you’ll be eligible for the Featured Cupcake Sampler honors. If you’re uploading to Splitcoast use keyword TECC36 (for
Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge 36). Leave a comment on this post with a link to your blog post or gallery upload so I can check it out! You must have your cards uploaded by Monday, October 6th at 8am PST to be eligible for the featured cupcake sampler. I can’t wait to see what you come up with! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! See you here tomorrow for National Card Making Day and details on the sale at Taylored Expressions!
And you definitely don’t want to miss the wonderful inspiration from the Cupcake Crew this week!
