Today it’s time for our monthly Key Ingredients challenge! Each month we issue a challenge to the Baker’s Dozen and all of our subscribers in order to give you a jump start on your creations as soon as the package hits your doorstep! Here’s this month’s challenge:
Create a no stamping card! I know, I know…we all love to stamp so this one will be tough! But try combining the rub-ons, cutting pieces from the patterned paper, and using the chipboard included in your kit to create a quick and easy card! And if you certainly can’t do without stamping, try limiting yourself to only stamping the sentiment.
To create the top card I cut out the adorable birdhouse from the patterned paper and arranged the along a branch (also cut from the patterned paper). I popped up each of the birdhouses with foam tape and then added the birds and sentiment rub-ons. Super quick! I started with Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch #68 for the second card. It was fun to pick out which patterns would fill each box on the sketch! The branch, owls, swirly border, and ‘hi’ sentiment are all from the rub-on sheets included with the kit. To finish it off I covered one of the chipboard flowers with patterned paper, sanded the edges, and dotted it with a red candy dot. It took less than 15 minutes to create each of these cards….gotta love that!
Now I’m not quite done sharing my projects because we also added an extra challenge just for the Baker’s Dozen this month. We wanted to show you how the Key Ingredients can be combined with stamp sets you already have. For my first card I stamped the branch from Branching Out and colored it with Copic markers. Then I added the birdhouses and owl rub-ons. The ‘Thinking of You’ sentiment is from our Garden Party Critters set. For my last card I used our new Garden Party Blooms stamp set. I stamped each of the flowers in a different color Memento ink (Lady Bug, Bamboo Leaves, and Cantaloupe), cut them out, and added one of the matching Primaries Pearl Brads to the center of each. I added a smidge of ribbon to the card and decided to see if the rub-ons would work on ribbon. They do! The sentiment is also a rub-on. Both of these cards were super quick to create too!
