Good morning! Thanks for tuning in for Day 4 of the 12 Days of A Handcrafted Christmas at Taylored Expressions! Our first week wouldn’t be complete without a few technical difficulties, but we were finally able to get our Day 3 video uploaded yesterday evening. You don’t want to miss the fun bath and body gift idea that I shared yesterday so click here to check it out! We’re “wrapping up” (yes… all pun intended!) our first week of A Handcrafted Christmas with a fun way to package a homemade holiday treat!

One of my favorite parts about giving a gift is finding the perfect package for it! Whether it’s a homemade treat, a set of cards, clothing, or jewelry, we have the Perfect Package for any gift at Taylored Expressions. In today’s video I’ll be sharing our Perfect Package with you and if you stick it out to the end of this post I’ll be revealing our super-secret family recipe for the yummy homemade caramels pictured below!

I also used the Perfect Package to create this all-in-one gift package, photo frame, and trinket box! I packaged a onesie inside and framed the front of the box with a photo of my sweet nephew. After the gift is removed, the box can be used to store trinkets or mementos from Baby’s 1st Christmas or make a unique picture frame for any home!

Here is a list of products used in today’s projects. You’ll find new specials in our 12 Days of Christmas category to get you started in creating your holiday gifts!

Super-Secret Cook Family Caramel Recipe

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup margarine
2 1/4 cup brown sugar
Dash of salt
1 cup light corn syrup
1 15-oz can condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
Melt butter and margarine in heavy 3 quart saucepan.  Add sugar and salt; stir thoroughly.  Stir in corn syrup; mix well.  Gradually add condensed milk, stirring constantly.  Using candy thermometer, cook and stir over medium heat to firm ball stage (245 degrees) for about 20-25 minutes.  Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.  Pour into buttered 9×9 pan, or 9×13 for thinner caramels.  Cool slightly and cut into squares.  Wrap in waxed paper. ENJOY!
