Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks Day 1
We’ve been busy preparing for our November release and we have some fun things in store for you this month! It’s finally time for the Baker’s Dozen and I to begin sharing our sneak peeks! So what’s on the menu today? The stamp set is called What’s Cookin’…. an adorable collection of kitchen icons illustrated by Nancy McKinney for our Whimsical Wishes collection. We also have some fun and fabulous new dies to coordinate with these stamps and you’ll be able to see some of them up close and personal in my sneak peek projects below. So let’s dig in!
During this time of year there are lots of holiday parties and dinner invitations as we all look for more excuses to eat pumpkin pie! My mom always taught me never to show up at a dinner without a hostess gift. I often keep tea towels, candles, and wine on hand for hostess gifts, but I thought it might be fun to create a spice’y’ hostess gift with our test tubes! I started by filling five test tubes with spices like chili powder and chives. I created labels for each of the tubes by stamping the scalloped label from Fright Night Favors onto sticker paper and die cutting with the Favor Frame Die. I also stamped each label with the measuring spoons from What’s Cookin’. Then I put the test tubes inside a clear card box and created the toppers. You can view my video on how to create one of these test tube boxes HERE.
The next card features the mixer from What’s Cookin’. I’ve always wanted one of those red KitchenAid mixers (mine is white….boring!). I think this is as close as I’ll get to a red mixer for a long time. I cut out the image with Spellbinders Labels 1 and airbrushed the yellow background with the die still in place. I added Glossy Accents to the mixing bowl and it’s really hard to see in the picture, but I propped the whisk up against the mixer. It’s hard to see because I traced it with silver paint pen while looks fun and realistic in person. The patterned papers are from the Bon Appetit collection by Doodlebug. I added some red scalloped polka dot ribbon and a bow. And now for my favorite little embellishment… do you see the measuring spoons? I stamped and colored them with Copics and then die cut them with one of the dies in our Kitchen Accessories die set. The I just punched a little hole in the top and tied it onto the ribbon like a charm.
My last card features the apron from What’s Cookin’ with the same kitchen themed patterned papers from the Bon Appetit collection. There are two aprons in the What’s Cookin’ set, a full apron and a half apron. For this card, I started with the half apron, colored it with Copics and cut it out with the new apron die. Then I cut the same die shape again out of red cardstock and paper pieced the top half only. I also added some Glossy Accents to the cherries on the apron and then popped the apron up on foam tape.
That’s it for my projects on the first day of sneak peeks! All of the new products will be available for purchase on Thursday, November 4th at 8 am PST at the TE Store! In the meantime, the Baker’s Dozen and friends have been cookin’ up some fabulous projects that I know you’ll want to see:
