Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks – Day 3
Welcome to our final day of sneak peeks for the Taylored Expressions November release! All of the new products that the Baker’s Dozen has been featuring during the past several days will be available for purchase on Thursday at 8am PST at the TE Store! The Enjoy! set we’re featuring today was concepted by Jami Sibley and illustrated by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes collection. The set was designed especially to make fun and creative packaging for your gift card giving! I give lots of gift cards not only during the holiday season, but year-round so I know this set is going to be used a lot in my stamp studio. We’ve considered many types of gift cards and finally decided upon images to coordinate with movies, music, department store/shopping, coffee, home improvement, birthday, and restaurant. And by now you know how much we love our dies at TE so we’ve also created a gift card frame die to coordinate with the frame image in Enjoy! The gift card frame die fits perfectly on (and in!) our small hinged tins and will be the perfect solution for dressing up your gift cards!
For my first project I decided to explore the music theme and create a special package for an iTunes gift card. Starting with the polka dot frame image, I picked out Lime Pastel, Warm Red, Tangerine, and Prussian Blue Colorbox Chalk inks and carefully dabbed them onto my stamp so that I could achieve the randomly colored image. It was actually a lot easier than it looks! Then I stamped the guitar image and sentiments in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored the guitar with Copics. After finishing the image I used the Gift Card Frame die to cut it out and then glued it to the top of the tin with the
Best Glue Ever. The music note patterned paper is from the Tinsel & Twig Project Pantry. I love being resourceful and finding something (like Christmas paper) to create a completely un-intended project! We’ve even made it easy to decorate the inside of the tin because the same Gift Card Frame die fits perfectly! I used several layers of foam tape under the bottom die cut to create a platform for the gift card. You can see the video on my platform process HERE. I also used stamps from a previously released set You’re My Hero to decorate the inside cover of the tin. I love how this project turned out and I love that it transforms an ordinary gift into the extraordinary!
We also have a new tin at the TE Store that I’ve been anxious to play with so I decided to keep going and create one more gift card project. This is a CD tin with gift card insert. I covered the front and back of the tin with papers from the Basic Grey Wander 6×6 pad to coordinate with the Outback gift card inside. As you can see, the gift card frame isn’t meant to fit exactly with this tin, but it still makes a great focal point for this tin. I stamped the frame in Prussian Blue Colorbox Chalk Ink and the sentiments/image in Memento Rich Cocoa. I colored the place setting with Copic markers and added a few Tiny Twinkles and some Baker’s Twine to the image. Once again turning an ordinary gift card into an extraordinary gift!
