Taylored Tip: Metal Adapter Shim
Today I’m stopping by to share a little tip with you. If you’re a Cuttlebug or Big Shot user then you’ll want to pay close attention. I recently discovered the Metal Adapter Shim for use when die cutting detailed images! I use the Big Shot for most of my die cutting and my machine gets a TON of use for classes, make and takes, and my own personal projects. Over time I’ve found that the pressure of the rollers has decreased making it difficult to cut out finely detailed dies like our new Holly Cutting Plate and some of our older dies (like the Fancy Buckles).
I had tried everything to get a crisp clean cut from my die cut machine (multiple trips through the machine, cardstock shims, reversing my sandwich, etc.) and I just couldn’t figure out why some dies cut perfectly and others wouldn’t. So when I learned about the metal shim I decided to try it out for myself. WOW! I was amazed! I actually ran to Jon and told him all about the fantastic results and even he was impressed!
If you’d like to learn more about the shim and see it in action, check out the video I recorded to show the results without the metal shim and the results with the metal shim. You’ll be die cutting through paper like it’s butter! Mmmm… and who doesn’t love butter!? lol
To finish it off I thought I’d share a card I made for our October Release using the Holly Cutting Plate:

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I’ll be back with our Guest Designer announcement on Sunday and on Monday for a special blog hop to honor the one year anniversary of our illustrator Emily Burger and her Embracing Grace collection. There will be a great prize up for grabs… straight from the artist herself!
