Taylored Expressions January Sneak Peek: Bless Your Nest
Hey there and welcome to our sneak peeks for the January Release at Taylored Expressions! Today the Baker’s Dozen and I are sharing sneak peeks of ALL of our new stamps and dies… that’s 8 stamp sets and 10 dies! All of the new products will be available tomorrow at 8am PST in our Fresh out of the Oven department. We’re kicking things off with a fun Preview Party on our Facebook page tonight at 6pm PST. Regina will be sharing full images of all the stamp sets and giving away several gift certificates so set your alarm and stop by tonight! Then we’ll be continuing the festivities with three more inspiration packed days Tuesday through Thursday!
The photo above is just a little peek of what I’ve been working on with our new stamps and dies. The Bless Your Nest stamp set is gorgeous! Nancy did an amazing job with the detailing on the nests and I’m in LOVE with the nest die. I have a little idea in mind for a ‘just hatched’ card when my sister has her baby in February but for this project I had a different person in mind.
I have a friend who loves birds. She loves all styles of birds, but the more vintage and shabby chic the better! I’ve seen these beautiful domed nest decorations floating around Pinterest so I decided to create something similar along with a matching card as a birthday gift for her. Psst… Happy Birthday, Jami! I hope you like it!
I bought the cake dome, moss, nest, and eggs at Michaels and then used my paper-crafty supplies to decorate it. I stamped the small bird to fit inside a metal frame charm from my stash, added lots of burlap twine, and a resin flower. The nest behind the framed bird is the new nest die cut that I was telling you about. It’s awesome!
I also decorated the lid of the cake dome with natural burlap twine wrapped around the handle and the medium layering doily die:
I’ve been using lots of kraft cardstock and burlap twine these days. I think Jen Shults’ kraft cardstock obsession and burlap twine use are rubbing off on me! So it actually wasn’t that big of a surprise when I grabbed more kraft cardstock and burlap twine for the card.
The branch and outlined leaves are one stamp and then the solid fill-in for the leaves is a separate stamp. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up, but the good news is that you don’t have to color inside all of the leaves with this quick and simple stamping option! After describing all that, I’ll say that I also went back with my Copics and added some highlights to the leaves. I just couldn’t ‘leave’ them alone! *grin*
For my second project I decided to get an early start on Madi’s Valentine treats for her friends. I used the Stuck on You set filled with adorable hedgehogs and an idea that I got from the fabulous Shannon White. When I met her for dinner back in October she sweetly presented me with the cutest little sucker treat. I filed that idea away for later and pulled it out again when I realized how easy it would be with our new Tuck & Close Notecard die. Here’s a look at the treats:
I cut out the Tuck & Close Notecard from Classic Red cardstock, punched a hole in the fold to accommodate the sucker stick and tucked the flap closed with a glue dot to hold it all together. On the back I stamped “Happy Valentine’s Day” and hand-wrote “Love, Madelyn” on them. They came together really easily. The most time consuming part was coloring all the hedgehogs! Here’s a look at the open treat with the sucker inside:
