Taylored Expressions April Studio Challenge
Hey there! I’m so glad you’re stopping by today because the Baker’s Dozen and I are joining together for another fun Studio Challenge! Each month we’re given a crafty question so that we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice, and more.
The theme for April is:
Mix
& Match! TE stamp sets are designed with plenty of
images and sentiments so they are “self-contained” for lots
of creativity, but sometimes it’s fun to mix and match
several different sets for even more possibilities. The challenge is to create a project combining three or more TE stamp sets.
As I searched through my stamp sets I found myself inspired to create a holiday card. Perhaps it’s the unusually cold spring weather that put me in the holiday spirit, but I figured it’s never too early to begin on Christmas cards! I chose these three stamp sets:
I started by inking only the branch from Bless Your Nest. Then I stamped the bird house from Wings of Joy hanging from the branch. Finally I added the ‘ornaments’ to the tree in various holiday colors using the two solid dots from Very Merry. The sentiment is also from the Very Merry set. Here’s my finished project:
I loved this challenge because it really encouraged me to think outside the box instead of just working with the images and sentiments that come within a set. If you decide to tackle this challenge yourself (and I really think you should!!) my little tidbit of advice would be to consider a scene you want to create. There are tons of animals that could be masked into a scene, trees added in, a little sun from another set, and voila! you’ve got yourself a combo card!
I can hardly wait to see what the rest of the team combined to make a masterpiece! Check ’em out along the hop:
