Taylor’s Expressions: A Little ‘Lady’ Turned One!
Hey there, crafty friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! It was one of those rare weekends where we had nowhere to be and not much to do and I must say that it was wonderful! We caught up on laundry and I actually cooked a meal all three nights (which is a big accomplishment if you know much about my cooking habits!).
A couple weeks ago we celebrated our daughter Charlotte’s first birthday with a party at our house. I love party planning and I had lots of fun with the ladybug theme for her party. I’ve been excited to share some of the special touches from a special day.
I’ll start with the invitations. I found this idea while perusing Pinterest and loved the idea of the ladybug wings opening up to view the details of the party.
The finished size of the invitations is 5″ x 7″ and I used Spellbinders Grand Circle Nestabilities (as the regular Nestabilities were not large enough to fill the 5″ x 7″ space). I love typography so I had fun choosing the fonts and laying out the text in Illustrator. I used a circle punch for the head and spots. Then I used the Taylored Expressions Curly Swirlies dies for the antennae and finished them off with Beetle Black sprinkles.
Now for a few of the party details:
I set up a table of memories from Charlee’s first year including her baby book and lots of pictures! I painted large letters that I picked up at Michael’s with black chalkboard paint and wrote words that correspond with each letter to describe Charlee: cuddly, happy, adorable, rambunctious, loud, easy-going, and energetic. I punched the letters with my Crop-a-dile and strung them together with ribbon.
I had fun taking pictures of Charlee in her monthly onesies over the past year. I put together this frame by cutting each photo with square Nestabilities and added the month number with glitter Thickers. “My First Year” was cut out of glitter paper with Taylored Expressions Chunky Alpha dies.
I love this special chalkboard sign that will give us a forever memory of Charlee at age one. If you’re interested, I’d highly recommend Moulage Collection. She’s amazing!
These are the party favors that everyone took home. A ladybug clip with Charlee’s photo on it and a picture of her at her cake smash session. I added “Thank you for coming to my party” at the bottom of the photos before printing them.
For the food signs, I used the new Take Your Place die with the inner portion of the Napkin Ring die along with Bugabee Bugs, Curly Swirlies, Leafy Branch, and Friendship Blooms dies.
Last, but certainly not least, I made these thank you notes to send out for the gifts she received. I used Bugabee Bugs, Curly Swirlies, Lots of Dots embossing folder and the new In & Out Thanks stamp set.
Those are just a few creative touches from Charlee’s first birthday party. Do you remember the party theme from your child’s first birthday party?
I’m always looking for ideas for future years and would love to hear
what you’ve done! It’s hard to believe how quickly time flies! So for now, I’ll leave you with this moment in time captured by our amazing photographer:
