Blog Design Team: Just Skew It!
It’s Friday the 13th! We know some of you may be a little superstitious, so what better way to ward off the bad ju-ju than with some creative inspiration? To give it to us is Blog Team designer Kay Miller who shows us what you can do if you just ‘turn’ things a bit in your favor…
Kay’s Notes: To create this fun little neighborhood card, I first covered an A2 size
card base with the leafy green patterned paper from the For Peep’s Sake
paper pack.
Kay’s Notes: Next I cut out a white panel that was slightly askew. The
way I did this was to layer my white panel on the card at the exact place
I wanted it to sit and cut the edges off. Next, I masked off the green
grass section of the card with some painter’s tape and sponged green
ink on it.
Kay’s Notes: Using the same mask, I layered it across the green part and
sponged in the blue sky area.
Kay’s Notes: I then colored the cute little houses from
Happy New Home with Copic Markers, and cut them out with the matching
dies. I positioned them where I wanted them, but before adhering them down with foam tape, I
stamped my sentiment to make sure it was in the right place. I glued a white scalloped border
just underneath the edge of my panel to make the green grass stand
out against the green patterned paper. Last, I adhered the panel to the
card base. Living way out in the country, we don’t get a lot of new
neighbors, but I’m sure this cute little card will come in handy one
day!
