Blog Design Team: Dreaming of You
Our April Release was an absolute blast and we’re ready for a creative weekend! To inspire us is Blog Team designer Kay Miller, who has jumped right into the current watercolor trend feet first and we love her results!
And now, let’s hear from Kay about her project…
If you’ve been around the card making community lately, you surely
will have noticed that watercoloring has taken it by storm! And I am
not immune to it’s lure. I love the loose, flowing style you get with
watercolors. There are many different mediums to use for this. For this
cute card today, I used my Distress Inks and markers to watercolor.
I started with a piece of watercolor paper cut slightly smaller than
my card base. I wet the whole piece of paper and lightly dabbed some
green along the bottom for the grass and some blue above that for the
sky. I let that dry and then with more watercolor, I flicked my
paintbrush over the whole thing with the same colors I used for the
grass and sky. I just love the texture and interest that the tiny
speckles add!
Next, I stamped the cute little puppy from If Dogs Could Talk with
waterproof black ink and watercolored him with Distress markers. I also
stamped some flowers from Tag-A-Long Easter and some leaves from Falling
For You. I watercolored those, let everything dry, and cut them out with
the matching dies.
Next, I cut the top cloud border from the Build A Scene Rolling
Clouds and I watercolored just a little bit of blue along the top. When
that was dry, I stamped the sentiment. I added foam tape to the backs of
everything but the leaves, and adhered them to my watercolored
background. I glued the leaves just under the edge of the flowers with
liquid glue. I then adhered the whole panel to an A2 size top folding
card. I hope you have enjoyed my project today and I hope it inspires
you to get those watercolors out and give them a try!
Thank you so much, Kay, for sharing your foray into this fun technique! Be sure to visit Kay on her blog, My Joyful Moments, for more of her fabulous work. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend, crafty friends!
