Blog Design Team: So Glad We Bumped Into Each Other!
It’s Saturday! Blog Team Member Amy Sheffer is sharing the kind of card that just makes us smile. Check it out…
And now, here’s Amy to tell us all about her project…
A couple of years ago, I bumped into a sorority sister of mine I
hadn’t seen in at least twenty years. I live in a super small town, so
it was quite unexpected to see her at the local grocery store, and to
learn that she also lives in the same small town! I found myself
thinking of her for weeks after that, and sure wished I’d had a card like
this to pop into the mail to let her know how special it was to see her
again.I’ve
been drawn to lots of white space lately. For years and years, I’ve
been a layers and embellished-to-the-nines cardmaker, so the urge to go
simple is making me just shake my head and smile. Here, I’ve stamped the
adorable pair of bumper cars and darling sentiment from Adventure Land. After using Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the cars onto a card-size panel, I colored with my Copics. I gave the cars a shiny paint job by coating them with Glossy Accents.Next, I added a patterned paper border along the top, using patterns from Taylored Expressions’ Build A Scene paper pack, along with the Reach for the Stars border die. I embellished the die-cut star border with some Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars, too.
I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black onto a Sugar Cube
strip, notched the end, and tucked it underneath the border.I adhered
the whole card-size panel to a card base in the same size. This allowed
me to hide the Copic coloring bleed-through on the back. I finished off
with a length of black and white baker’s twine, tied off into a bow with the tails left long and dangling. The next time I’m lucky enough to run into an old friend, I’ll be ready with
this card.
Thank you, Amy, for sharing your story and this wonderful card! You can find more of Amy’s beautiful work on her blog, Pickled Paper Designs. Have a joyful day!
