Blog Design Team: Make Someone HAPPY
Hey there, crafty friends! We hope your week has gotten off to a great start. Today, Blog Team Designer Lisa Henke has created a wonderfully happy card for us today and we can’t wait to share it with you.
And now, here’s Lisa to tell us all about her project…
Everyone loves to receive a compliment. It feels good and lifts us
up. I think it’s great that with a handmade card you can make anyone’s
day a little brighter. I did minimal stamping, used lots of dies and a fall color scheme to pack a big dose of happy in this card.
I started with a 4 x 5.25 inch Sugar Cube panel and cut along the
bottom with the Block Party-Happy die. I did some simple masking with sticky notes to ink up only part of the sentiment from the C’mon Get
Happy stamp set. (Don’t forget to remove your mask BEFORE stamping.)
I then used two different patterns of green polka-dotted paper from
the Build A Scene and Build a Scene Halloween 6×6 Paper Packs to make my
mountains. The Mountain Tops dies always make me smile.
I was excited to play with the Build A Scene Trees dies from last
release. All of the treetop options are just the
cutest! I picked two of my favorites and cut them out. Notice the wood
grain on the tree trunks? Easy to do with the right papers, again from
the Build A Scene 6×6 Paper Pack.
Behind the Block Party-Happy, I layered a piece of yellow chevron
pattern. You’ll notice a trio of that yellow pattern paper on my card. I
also used it for the heart on the tree and again on the sun from Little
Bits-Sun & Clouds. I love how it balances out the card and helps
keep your eye moving.
Speaking of clouds, they are actuallytwo of the
tree tops from Build a Scene Trees! I know the Sun & Cloud die
set included a couple of clouds, but I already had these cut out and
ready to go before I decided to add the sun, so I kept them. Plus they
are a little bigger and a bit more billowy, just the look I was going
for. I tied up the whole card with a bit of natural burlap twine to
complete the ‘happiness’ going on here. I can’t wait to send this one out
to a dear friend who makes me happy.
Thank you for sharing this delightful card with us today, Lisa! You can find more of Lisa’s fabulous work on her blog, My Little Creative Escape. Have a joyful day!
