Hey there, crafty friends! Can you believe it’s November already? I love the beginning of each month as it brings the release of fresh new goodies here at Taylored Expressions! This time of year it also brings us one day closer to the first snow. I’ll admit, I do love the first snow; a beautiful dusting of white that makes everything sparkle.

The holiday season is filled with home-baked goodies! From hosting a cookie exchange to celebrating at the office Christmas party to contributing your favorite dish to the family potluck, the kitchen gets quite a workout during the holiday season. The new products we’re featuring today are great for adding the perfect paper-crafty touch to one of your home-baked goodies.
In addition to the new baking themed stamps and dies, I’m also excited to debut a new product that will coordinate perfectly with these stamps and dies. Check out these cute printed recipe cards!
Our recipe cards are sold exclusively at the TE web store and offered in sets of 20 and 60. I happen to have a few Rachael Ray’s on my gift list and I’m constantly asking for their recipes. So I thought a cute set of recipe cards would make a great gift tied up with a cute tag, a set of mini spatulas, and a coordinating card:
I created the tag using the previously released Build a Tag 4 set and the new Little Bits – Mixer.
I created a coordinating card to give with the recipe cards using the new Basketweave Cutting Plate. The cutting plate looks like a simple stripe design, the the strips that cut out from the design are perfectly proportioned to create a fabulous basketweave pattern. I varied the colors in my basketweave to achieve this red and white checkerboard pattern that reminds me of a gingham patterned kitchen towel. Note to Self: Find a gingham patterned hand towel to give with this gift!
I decided to make another card using the Basketweave Cutting Plate because I wanted to show how it could be used in another way. We all know I love rainbow and I love shaker cards, so what could be better than a rainbow shaker card!?
I started by cutting out the design and adhering a piece of clear plastic sheet on the back of the die cut. Then I adhered pieces of 1/8″ foam tape all around the frame and along each stripe in the design. I added sequins in a rainbow color scheme using sequins from several different sets, but primarily the Rainbow Brights collection. Because I added the foam tape between each strip of the design, the sequins stay separated in the shaker. And there were just the perfect amount of strips for my ROYGBIV design!
After finishing up the shaker element, I grabbed one of my all-time favorites, Big Bold Birthday, to create a sentiment flag for the front of the card. I didn’t want to cover up too many sequins so I tried to keep the layout simple with a few balloons from the Up, Up, and Away Cutting Plate to finish it off.
That’s it for my Day 1 sneak peeks! I hope you see something that inspires you to create handmade happiness all year round! You’ll definitely want to check out the rest of our creative team blogs where I know you’ll be inspired as well! And don’t forget to leave a comment for your chance to win the versatile new Basketweave Cutting Plate! See you back here tomorrow for Day 2 of peeks!
