Taylor’s Expressions: Let’s Make This Quick!
Happy Monday, crafty friends! If your week is shaping up to be anything like mine, I know you are going to be busy getting ready for Christmas. I just love how festive everything is, both inside and outside our home. When it comes to gift wrapping, I always try to make my own tags — they add such a fun, personal touch. I thought I’d share these quick tags with you today in case, like me, you are a little behind!
To give you an idea of just how quick they are, I made 12 in an hour (I happened to be catching up on one of my favorite shows, The Good Wife. I probably would have made more, but I kept getting distracted by all the drama on the screen!)
Though I love to stamp, sometimes die-cutting is faster (and more forgiving when you are riveted by what’s on tv) so I gathered together one of our new dies, which is becoming one of my favorite go-to dies, the Stitched Circle Stackets. There is something about stitching that makes me happy. I die-cut my base from some bright Cherry Pop cardstock and the leaves from Little Bits – Holly from Peapod cardstock — I cut a couple dozen of everything as I knew I’d be creating multiple tags, which was a big time saver. To turn these into ‘ornaments,’ I die-cut one of the ornament hangers from Ornament Accessories from Earl Grey cardstock. I glued these to the red circles bases and set them aside.
Next, using letters from Sweet & Simple Alphabet – Upper, I spelled out the word “JOY” on a sheet of Sugar Cube cardstock. To make it faster, I taped all three letters together (with removable tape) inside a smaller Stitched Circle die so I didn’t have to arrange them every time. After running it all through my Big Shot, I removed the letter dies and adhered each white circle to the red ones with foam tape. The red background peeks through the negative space of the letters and really pops!
To finish things off, I added the green holly leaves to the “O” and used an enamel dot at the center for my berry. With a bit of baker’s twine, it was all ready to add to a festive gift.
I hope you can grab a few minutes here and there to create your own quick gift tags this year! If you are in need of a quick Christmas card, here’s a little video from the TE Studio that I hope will give you some time-saving ideas. Have a joyful day!
