Blog Design Team: Let’s Make the World a Better Place
Happy New Year’s Eve, crafty friends! Today, Blog Team Designer Julia Stainton has created a wonderful card that is so very appropriate as we wind down 2015 and look ahead to the future. Her words are ones we can all live by, and we hope you are as inspired by her card as we are. Check it out…
And now, let’s hear from Julia about her project…
As one year ends and another begins, it is always a time of reflection.
2015 has been a wonderful year of joy and creativity, but it’s also been
a year of headlines that we wish we’d never had to read. As we begin
2016, my wish is that it will be a year of hope for all. One way to have
that happen is if we were all inspired to make the world a better
place. Every act of kindness is worth doing. It can even start with a
simple smile.I have this thing for globes. I’m not sure if
owning two really counts as a collection, but it’s a start! That’s one of
the reasons I love The World is Waiting stamp set. It has a beautiful
globe image and fabulous sentiments to go with it. It’s one of those
stamp sets that is perfect for so many occasions and works for either
gender. To create the tag focal point on this design I die-cut a
piece of watercolor paper with the Tag Stacklets 2 die set. Using black
ink, I first stamped the sentiment and then masked it off with a piece of
paper so that the globe base wouldn’t ink over it. Then I stamped the
globe and watercolored it. A sweet little heart from the Cupid’s Arrows
dies is folded and stapled onto the globe as an accent.
Have you
ever thought of die-cutting patterned paper with a background die? It
gives a fun look to the Starry Night Cutting Plate! An extra tag and a
few embellishments quickly finish off this card design. As 2016
dawns, why not take the time to think of ways to make your little corner
of the world a better place? Best wishes for a joyful new year!
