Monkey Business
Forest Friends
Dies:
Let’s Talk Edger 1
Let’s Talk Edger 2
Embossing Folders:
Chicken Wire
Flower Power
Splatter
One of my favorite parts about Petite-a-Palooza is that each of these stamp and die combo sets can truly stand on their own; they have all the images and sentiments you need to create lots of different projects, BUT they can also be combined with images and sentiments in other stamp sets for even more versatility! So for my first project, I decided to combine the lion from Mane Event with a monkey from Monkey Business to create this ‘wild’ birthday card:
After coloring the images with Copics I cut them out with the coordinating dies and set them aside while I built the scene for them to live. I knew I wanted to use the On the Line Cutting Plate for the scene. I’ve created a jungle scene with these treetops in the past on
this card and I wanted to try it again with these cute jungle critters.
I’ll admit, it took me about an hour to die cut and fuss with the arrangement and spacing of all the different elements! I’d feel like it could be done, but then I’d think “Let’s try one more balloon.” or “I think it needs a different color balloon.” And I won’t even tell you how long it took to figure out the sentiment placement! I just kept hearing my friend Jami’s voice in my head saying “More is More, Taylor!” and this is truly one of those “more is more” cards! I do love how it all came together so the ‘fussing’ was worth it in my mind!
After the ‘more is more’ card above, I decided to keep it simple when I started playing with the Happy Hens set. These cute little hen make me smile! Here’s what I came up with:
I started by stamping, coloring, and paper piecing the henhouse in the background. Then I colored the additional hen and die cut with the coordinating die. The ‘grass’ was die cut with the new stitched scallop border and embossed with the Cable Knit Embossing Folder. I used the Let’s Talk Edger 2 to hold the sentiment in the sky because it a kind of resembles a cloud.
Most of my cards are incomplete before I add some kind of twine, and natural burlap twine is typically my go-to twine which is what I used to finish off this card.
That’s it for my Day 1 sneak peeks! I know you’re going to want to check out the rest of our creative team blogs for more Petite-a-Palooza inspiration! And don’t forget to leave a comment for your chance to win the new Happy Hens Stamp & Die Combo! See you back here tomorrow for Day 2 of peeks!
