Creative Team: Thank You For Your Service
Happy Monday to you all, crafty friends! Today is a national holiday here in the U.S. — Presidents’ Day. Presidents’ Day is also known as Washington’s Birthday and began as a day to commemorate the birth of our nation’s first president and commander of the armed forces. So, we thought it would be fitting to feature a special card today to honor all the men and women of our military and this one from Creative Team member Kendra Wietstock is just perfect. Lucky for us, she shared step-by-step instructions on how she created it.
Step 1: Create a standard A2 cardbase from Toffee Cardstock. Set aside.
Step 2: Trim a piece of Summer Nights patterned paper to 5 ¼” x 4”.
Step 3: Trim a piece of Blue Corn Cardstock to 5 ¼” x 4”, then emboss the panel with the Swiss Hearts Embossing Folder.
Step 4: Adhere the embossed heart panel to the striped patterned paper at an angle and trim the edges with a paper trimmer. Then attach to the Toffee cardbase.
Step 5: Wrap red/white/blue twine around the panel 3 times and add a red button. Tie off and trim excess twine.
Step 6: Stamp the US map image from the Stars & Stripes Stamp & Die combo set in Memento Toffee Crunch ink on Toffee Cardstock and trim with the coordinating map die. Adhere with foam adhesive to the card.
Step 6: Stamp the “missing you” sentiment from the You Are Here stamp set and trim with the banner die from the Build-A-Tag 3 die set. Adhere to the map image.
Step 7: Die-cut small hearts in Blue Corn and Red Pepper Cardstock from the Hearts A Flutter Cutting Plate and adhere to the banner.
Step 8: Stamp “Thank You” sentiment from the Stars & Stripes Stamp & Die Combo set in Love Letter Red Memento ink. Die-cut using Banner Stacklets 1 die set. Adhere to the card.
Step 9: Finish by adding some red epoxy dots to the card.
Thank you so much, Kendra, for creating this wonderful card for us today. You can find more of her work on her blog, Kendra’s Card Company. Do you have someone serving in the military you’d like to give a shout-out to today? Leave a comment below so we can all salute their service!
