Blog Design Team: Just Chicken In!
Happy Tuesday, crafty friends! We hope you are having a splendid week filled with fun and creativity. Today, we’ve got a really fun card to share with you from Blog Design Team member, Cindy Lawrence! She’s taken our Happy Hens Stamp & Die Combo for a spin to create a clucky-good card. Check it out…

And now, here’s Cindy to tell us all about her project…
Aren’t these Happy Hens awesome? I absolutely adore them, and had to have them immediately! Now, I’ll confess that we have chickens in our backyard, courtesy of my son, the chicken farmer. However, I would have been drawn to these Happy Hens regardless. I love the sayings, the sassy chickens, and the charming hen house!
I was perusing my patterned paper stash, and came across this darling paper covered in chickens. Of course I had to use it on my card today. I also thought the color palette was fun and not what I would normally choose for a barnyard scene. I stamped the chickens on X-Press It Blending Card in Memento Espresso Truffle ink, and die-cut them with the coordinating Happy Hens dies. I colored them with Copic markers, giving them lots of “feather” texture.
I then popped the chickens up using 1/8″ Foam Tape to give them some dimension.
I used the Chicken Wire Embossing Folder to dress up the background. I LOVE that folder so much! The sentiment was stamped in Memento Rose Bud ink.
The hen house was stamped on X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Espresso Truffle ink, and die-cut with stitched flag dies. I colored it with lots of Copic markers in rich, coordinating colors. A trio of wooden dots and some pretty coordinating ribbon finish off the details.
I gussied up the inside with a couple of left-over strips of paper, a lightly stamped hen house, and a coordinating sentiment.
Thank you for sharing this absolutely darling card! You can find more of Cindy’s fabulous work on her blog, The Creative Closet. Have a joyful day!
