Blog Design Team: Selective Trimming for Elegant Framing
Hey, hey, crafty friends! If you were here on the ol’ blog yesterday, you will have seen Sharon Harnist’s beautiful card featuring our Leafy Vine Cutting Plate. Today, we’ve got another take on this versatile die, this time from Blog Design Team member Isha Gupta, who shows us how to selectively trim this popular cutting plate to create a beautiful frame. Check it out…
And now, here’s Isha to tell us all about her project…
Do you like colors? I love them, but, I also like white: it’s pure and elegant. I really love the Leafy Vine Cutting Plate — it just speaks “Elegance” to me. So I decided to keep to how I felt and create an elegant card using this die.
I die-cut a piece of shimmery white cardstock using the die. Then I removed some of the areas using a craft knife. I’ve marked where I cut on this photo below:
I then cut a piece of vellum, stamped and embossed this beautiful sentiment using gold embossing powder. I adhered the Leafy Vine die-cut to the vellum and then the vellum to a white cardbase. To finish I adhered some sequins.
I hope you like the white on white look with a touch of gold as much as I do. Thanks for dropping by!
Thank you for sharing such a lovely and elegant card with us today, Isha! And, thanks for the tips on how to selectively cut away from a die to create a pretty frame. You can find more of Isha’s fabulous work on her blog, New Ideas. Have a joyful day!
