Sneak Peeks! I scream, you scream, we all scream for PINEAPPLE!?
Good morning, crafty friends! It’s time for Day 2 of sneak peeks for our June Release! We’re celebrating with all the signs of summer; the beach, summer sunnies, a surf bus, and the ever-trendy pineapple! All of the products we’re sharing this week will be available for purchase at the TE webstore starting Thursday, June 9th at 7am PST. Until then, the Creative Team and I are here to inspire you with our creations and give you a chance to win our new products before you can buy them!
So how do you win it before you can buy it? By answering my question of the day, of course! My question for today has you thinking about your favorite beach. Note: it doesn’t have to be near an ocean! Lake’s have beaches too! *wink*
For answering today’s question, you’ll be entered to win the On the Line Beach Cutting Plate!
Leave your comment before Wednesday, June 8th at 11:59pm PST. One entry per person. Each comment will also be entered into our Grand Prize drawing for a full set of our new mini ink pads! Winners will be chosen at random and announced on Thursday, June 9th, 2016.
For my first project today, I’m excited to share the newest addition to our Simply Stamped series; the pineapple! Have you noticed pineapples everywhere lately? It’s quite the symbol of summer and I’ve seen them on everything from wrapping paper and coffee cups to journals and even jackets! Here’s what I came up with:
Typically our Simply Stamped series is designed to be stamped in 2-3 layers of varying shades to create a dimensional image without the lift. For my project I stamped just one layer of the base and one layer of the leaves in Versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I die cut with Banner Stacklets 4 and used three of our new ink colors to blend the background. On the bottom half of the banner I used Lemon Meringue and sponged a little bit of Candy Corn onto the pineapple. Then on the top half of the banner I used Granny Smith, being more generous with the ink throughout the leafy part of the image.
I stamped the sentiment onto a white banner (truth be told, I originally stamped it right onto my pineapple banner but it was crooked so this is how I salvaged my mistake) and then I created the background by cutting strips of coordinating paper from several of our paper packs. I tied the top of the banner with Baker’s Twine and mounted it over the patterned paper background.

For my next project I decided on a beachy scene featuring one of our lovable grumplings from the new Summer Grumplings stamp set. The grumplings never fail to crack me up!
This little bikini babe doesn’t look too happy, but she certainly has the right idea with that sentiment. Love it! I started by setting the scene with the On the Line Beach Cutting Plate. I embossed the Cloudy Days background onto white cardstock and adhered the cutting plate over the top. The adirondack chair is a new Little Bits die and the waves in the background are from last month’s Lakeside Border die. The sunshine is from Build a Scene – Sunshine.
After finishing the scene I just had to set sweet, cheerful grumpling on the sand and call it finished! I colored her with Copic markers and also used a marker to highlight portions of the sand and the palm tree trunks.

We kicked off last month with a new series of dies called On the Road as we introduced a camper, beetle, and truck which have been well-loved by many already! We’re continuing this series with two new modes of transportation this month; a groovy surf bus and scooter. These two fabulous cards were designed by Jean Manis and Kim Singdahlsen using the new On the Road dies:

And because it’s always helpful to see how these dies are designed to be assembled, we put together these Style Sheets that you can download and print to reference while you’re crafting!
