Blog Design Team: Row, Row, Row Your Boat!
Happy Thursday, crafty friends! Today, Blog Design Team member Isha Gupta, has created an adorable card that combines a monkey and a canoe…need we say more? Check it out…
And now, here’s Isha to tell us all about her project…
Hello TE Fans! Now that summer has started in Europe, there are people out with their canoes having fun in the sunshine. This is my inspiration for this simple-to-create card.
I used the canoe die from the Build a Scene – Lakeside die set. I used masking, sponging and partial die-cutting techniques to create my little scene. I used our new inks for all the sponging and love the smooth blend!
First, I partially die-cut the canoe onto a mat layer. I also die-cut it using a post-it note to use it as mask. (Keep both the positive and negative of the mask as we will be using both.) Now, mask the canoe and stamp the water using the brushstroke from the Stroke of Genius 2 stamp set. First, I used the Salt Water Taffy ink and then re-stamped over it using Cookie Monster ink here and there.
I then removed the mask and used the negative of the mask so everything is covered except the canoe. I then colored it using Strawberry Milkshake, Cherry Pop, and Chocolate Truffle inks and my blending tool.
I then made a cardbase using white cardstock and sponged some inks to create the background sunny effect using Lemon Meringue, Candy Corn and Strawberry Milkshake ink. Once it was to my liking, I added a few splatters of white paint flicks.
Now, I stamped, colored, and die-cut the cute monkey from the Hippo Birdy stamp set. To assemble the card, I stamped the sentiment onto the front panel and adhered it to the cardbase using 3D foam. I adhered the monkey image and the card was done!
Thanks for this darling card, Isha! You can find more of Isha’s fabulous work on her blog, New Ideas. Have a joyful day!
