Hey there, crafty friends! I hope you like my nod to the movie Moana with a line from the song ‘Shiny’! We watch a lot of Disney at our house and every time I grab my foil for a card project – which has been a lot in the last few weeks! – I start belting out “I’d rather be Shiny!” so I thought I’d share my song with you (and you don’t even have to listen to me sing it which is probably a good thing)!

I picked up foil again recently and have been really excited about all the different applications now available since I last explored the technique. I taught a foiling class at our local Studio over the weekend and have recorded a video to show you 4 different products to use with foil. Are you thinking, “I don’t have a Minc machine or other heat source (i.e. laminator) for foiling so I’ll just stop.”? Well, don’t stop! My video includes one method for foiling (and there are others) that don’t require the use of heat so it’s easy for everyone to get shiny!

As I’ve explored foiling more, I found myself wanting something that I couldn’t find. So I designed it! In the video, I shared a little bit about the pre-printed sentiments that I designed and used on the Wish Big card. These are printed with a laser printer which means they are toner-based and when used with a heat source, the foil will stick to the toner and produce beautiful results! Here’s a look at the two sets that I have designed:

This set features 12 all-occasion sentiments pre-printed on 80 lb. white cardstock. Each circle has a diameter of 2.75″ and can be cut out or framed with several Stacklets in the TE collection including Stitched Circle Stacklets, Stitched Frame Stacklets 2, and Tag Stacklets 3.

The next set features 8 similar sentiments pre-printed onto printable, heat-resistant acetate. Each circle measures 2.75″. Simply cut the acetate sheet equally at 4.25″ and 5.5″ to achieve 4 bases appropriate for creating a shaker element after foiling. Each set of pre-printed sentiments retails for $4.00 and is an easy way to begin your journey into foiling!
