Celebrate Freedom & Fireworks
Hey there, crafty friends! Happy Hump Day! Yesterday was my birthday so I’m coming off the high of all the wonderful birthday wishes! Both of my parents are here from California and the best part of my day was the celebration my kids helped plan for me which included a yummy dinner, a handmade potholder, and a birthday cake from their easy bake oven (which may or may not have been edible)! *grin*
Today, I’m continuing our 4th of July feature with another Patriotic card that combines a couple new goodies with a couple oldies but goodies!
I started by heat embossing the fireworks from Freedom & Fireworks stamp set onto watercolor cardstock. I painted one firework at a time – started by painting clean water in the circular area of one of the fireworks. Then I dipped my brush into one drop of liquid watercolor and placed it onto the area of clean water. The color feathers out beautifully and stays contained within the area that was first painted with clean water. I dried the area with my heat tool before moving on to another color and also came back and repeated the steps to add a second layer of color to each of the fireworks.
After finishing the watercolor portion, I die cut our previously released Marching On die from Blue Corn cardstock and a frame using a combination of our Stitched Rectangle Stacklets and Inside Scallop Rectangle Stacklets. I added coordinating enamel shapes to the center of each firework and embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder.
