Fun With Felt – Roll With it!
Hey, crafty friends! How savvy are you with a glue gun? I have one that is a lower temperature, and while that saves my fingers, I like the hotter temperature glue gun for sticking things together a bit better. Just be careful and don’t burn yourself! I have witnessed that before and it is not pretty. Safety first!
Why all this glue gun talk? You will want to get yours fired up for today’s projects because we are rolling up some felt to create the prettiest flowers around!
I have two videos for you today. In the first one, Taylor walks you through the 100% wool designer felt that we carry in the Taylored Expressions webstore. In the second video, Taylor shows you how to create felt flowers using the Roll With It Flower 1 and Roll With it Flower 2 dies.
That designer felt is pretty amazing stuff! I would love to own all the colors. With the 100% wool designer felt, you can add sparkle and shine to your cardmaking, home decor and mixed media projects. Foil- and glitter-backed versions of our popular, high-quality felt can be cut using TE’s Mixed Media dies in a standard die cutting machine, or with any thin steel die using an electronic die cutting machine.
Now here’s how to make those pretty felt flowers:
The Roll With It Flower dies make it so easy to create the prettiest blooms for your projects. The dies are the Mixed Media format and they are designed to cut cleanly through materials like the designer felt, chipboard, vinyl, leather, cardstock, and more with your die cut machine.
Let’s take a closer look at some projects created with the Roll With It Flower dies and felt:
Here is the monogram shadowbox that Taylor showed in the video. She created flowers using the Roll With it Flower 1 and Roll With It Flower 2 die collections using both the 100% wool felt and 100% wool designer felt in a rainbow of colors.
The sparkle is just amazing and I love how Taylor mixed in some of the regular 100% wool felt with the designer felt. Taylor added a monogram to the front of the shadowbox by die cutting some white vinyl with one of the letters from the Initially die collection.
I had to share Noriko Fairchild‘s amazing shadowbox with you today too! Noriko also used the Roll With it Flower 1 and Roll With It Flower 2 dies and filled up this shadowbox with flowers made from the 100% wool felt and sparkly 100% wool designer felt.
Noriko has a tip for using the regular steel dies in a manual die cut machine. She says to cut the designer felt she has had good luck by putting the felt sparkly side down and have the die cut into the back (smooth) side of the felt. You can view the post for this project from Noriko over on her blog HERE.
Finally today, here is a project that is quick and easy from Taylor using a few felt flowers created with the Roll With it Flower 1 and Roll With It Flower 2 dies to embellish a piece of framed art. One of the flowers was created with the Fringe Border die. After die cutting, just roll it up like your would for the other flowers, adding glue with a hot glue gun to secure everything together.
This framed piece is perfect for a teacher thank you gift and is created with the new {Frame-worthy} Teacher collection. Taylor colored the owl image from the set with Copic markers and slipped it into the frame embellished with the felt flowers.
