In the video below I am going to share how I created this collection of graduation cards with the new {Boxed In} Basics 2020 Grad panels, the new Flip the Script stamp & die combo set, and a few other supplies.
Please note: I lost some footage for this video and I talk you through a few pieces of this project, specifically on stenciling with Transfer Gel. To learn more about using Transfer Gel with a stencil to do foiling on your projects, CLICK HERE.
Here’s a closer look at the products I used in the video:
{Boxed In} Basics – 2020 Grad is a set of 12 pre-printed panels (measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″). Each panel features a sentiment customized for the class of 2020 (two each of six unique designs). Designs are printing onto our 100 lb. Sugar Cube cardstock. Because they are toner-printed, they can be used with a foiling machine or heat laminator to apply foil – or can be used in black and white while adding colorful accents with blender brushes, markers, pencils, or stamping.
The Flip the Script – Grad Stamp & Die Combo is the perfect coordinate for the Boxed In panels! The graduation cap features the hand-lettered sentiment ‘adventure awaits’ and can be die cut with the coordinating die included in the set.
I added a layer of light gray color by doing ink blending with the largest rectangle in the Masking Stencils – Rectangles collection with Sea Salt ink. It’s subtle, but adds a classy and finished look to your card.
For a metallic accent I added a border of stars to each of the cards by creating my own stencil and foiling the stenciled design. I used the stars from the Banner Year – 4th of July set and die cut them across a piece of cardstock. I used the die cut piece as a stencil and applied Transfer Gel Duo through the stencil on to each card. I added silver and gold foil and transferred the foil to the card using my laminator. If you don’t have a heat laminator, the Transfer Gel Duo can also transfer with pressure through your die cut machine.
I used graduation caps on my card designs from the new Flip the Script – Grad set and also from The Tassel set. The caps are stamped with Oreo ink onto the coordinating die cuts and added to the cards with foam tape to pop them up just a bit.
I did a neutral color scheme of black, grays, and metallics, but you could also do the cards in school colors or the favorite color of the graduate!
How about some more inspiration from a few members of our Creative Team using the new graduation products?
You got a peek of one of these graduation cards created by Gayatri Murali on yesterday’s post, but I had to show you the whole rainbow of colors that she created! Gayatri added color to the {Boxed In} Basics 2020 Grad panels with her blender brushes and then stamped the graduation caps from the Flip the Script – Grad set with an ombre effect. I love that she added the Bits & Pieces – Drip Drops to finish off her design with some shimmer and shine.
Jen Shults created this classy grad card using the new {Boxed In} Basics 2020 Grad card set. She added color with her blender brushes, sparkle by applying glimmer paste through the Scattered Stars stencil, and die cut the graduation cap using the Grad Cap die. You can customize this card design for any graduate with just a change of color for the blending and the tassel on the graduation cap!
Don’t forget about the other new graduation stamp set: The Inside Scoop – Grad. It’s great basic stamp set to add to your graduation product collection!
The Inside Scoop – Grad set includes a collection of sentiments perfect for celebrating the new graduate. As part of our Inside Scoop collection, this set includes a variety of sentiments designed to work well on the inside of your card.
Melody Rupple used The Inside Scoop – Grad stamp set on the inside of this graduation card that she created with the {Boxed In} Basics 2020 Grad card set. Melody customized the colors for this card by coloring in the ‘2020’ numbers with Copic markers and adding fun accents on the card front and inside the card in the same colors using the Little Bits – Grad Confetti die collection.
