NEW Wheatfield Dreams Kit!
Hey, crafty friends! It’s Taylor here today! I’m so excited to share our latest cardmaking kit with you! Lori Craig has been at it again creating this beautiful set of illustrations! She has long been known as “Wheatfield Dreamer” through her ‘handle’ on Splitcoaststampers and Instagram so it seemed incredibly appropriate that she illustrates this kit featuring the wheatfields and sunflowers of her home state Kansas. In addition to our staple stamps and dies, this kit also includes pre-printed panels that can be foiled (or colored with the coloring medium of your choice) and an exclusive pot of Copper embossing powder!
What else is unique about Taylored Expressions kits? In keeping with our mission to Share Joy, we encourage you to send the cards you create by including six envelopes along with six custom envelope seals to match the theme of the kit. Each kit comes packaged in a zippered pouch with a coordinating vinyl sticker making it easy to keep the supplies organized. We create a special color story for each kit with lots of inspiration from our Creative Team to get you started!
Here’s everything included in the Wheatfield Dreams Kit – which is available for $69:
- Wheatfield Dreams stamp set
- Wheatfield Dreams die collection
- Burlap Background stamp
- Foil It – Wheatfield
- Mini Embossing Powder – Copper
- 6 A2 Envelopes, 2 each of: Honey, Mulled Wine, and Sweet Basil
- Packaged in a zippered pouch with a custom kit label
Most items are not available to purchase individually. You will be able to purchase additional envelope seals (pack of 10) and new TE Liquid Watercolor colors (Honey, Mulled Wine, and Sweet Basil) separately.
Today’s video is from Heather Nichols using the Wheatfield Dreams Kit. See how she created the cards above from start to finish in the video below:
In the video, Heather creates a pair of cards using the Wheatfield Dreams Kit. The images from the Wheatfield Dreams stamp set are embossed with copper embossing powder on watercolor cardstock and Heather adds color with liquid watercolor paints. The card backgrounds are stamped with the Burlap Background stamp and have splatters added over everything.
Can I just tell you how much I love the copper embossing powder from the kit? It’s such a rich, rusty brown that is perfect and reminds me of all things fall! You’ll love how smooth it embosses and it looks gorgeous on the wheat and sunflower images from the Wheatfield Dreams stamp set. Heather embossed the images onto the smooth side our 118 lb. watercolor cardstock and added color with our liquid watercolor paints. We are releasing three new colors (Mulled Wine, Honey, and Sweet Basil) to coordinate with the kit and Heather used the Honey and Sweet Basil colors on her cards along with Pineapple and Chocolate Truffle.
I love how the images from the Wheatfield Dreams stamp set are perfect for the fall season but will work throughout the year for many occasions like sympathy and masculine birthdays. And the thank you cards that Heather created could be sent out at any time of the year! What do you think of the burlap texture background? It goes perfectly with the sunflower and wheat images and the Toffee tone on tone adds to the wonderful rustic look on Heather’s cards.
Check out the list below for all of the supplies that Heather used on her cards:
Now, let’s take a closer look at the different elements of the kit as well as more inspiration from the TE Creative Team. Note: Most of these items are only available as part of the Wheatfield Dreams Kit.
Inspired by the farms of Kansas and the midwest, the Wheatfield Dreams stamp set brings to life the artful illustrations of Lori Craig. This set coordinates with the Wheatfield Dreams dies and includes two beautiful illustrations; a sunflower and a gathering of wheat stalks, as well as a diamond pattern to accent your designs and three heartfelt sentiments.
Jen Shults painted the wheat stalks from the Wheatfield Dreams stamp set using liquid watercolors and layered them onto a watercolor wash background (created using Honey and Sweet Basil liquid watercolor) that she stamped with the diamond pattern and the ‘thank you’ sentiment. I love the twine that Jen added behind the wheat, wrapped around the Stitched Rectangle Stacklets panel several times and tied into a bow. It’s the perfect rustic touch!
When you think of sunflowers, the typical sunny yellow petals usually are what come to your mind, but sunflowers actually come in a number of different colors! Melody Rupple colored the sunflowers from the Wheatfield Dreams stamp set in several different colors using Copic markers for the pretty fall bouquet on her thank you card. I really like how Melody added the wheat peeking out from being the blooms and the burlap twine bow around the stems of the bouquet.
Add a rustic, textured look to any card or craft with the Burlap Background stamp. Designed to look like burlap fabric, this background will complement any farmhouse or rustic-inspired design.
Jill Hawkins inked up the Burlap Background stamp with multiple ink colors (mini ink cubes work great to do this!) for this thank you card created with the Wheatfield Dreams Kit. The wheat stalks are stamped over the background using Oreo ink and then Jill did a partial die cutting technique to cut out the wheat on just the right side. Burlap twine makes another appearance on this card – it pairs so well with the Wheatfield Dreams Kit!
If you love layers, the Burlap Background stamp is a perfect addition to your crafty collection! The rustic texture is perfect to layer not just behind the images from the Wheatfield Dreams set, but with other patterns and textures too! Kelly Lunceford used the Burlap Background stamp in a few ways on her cards created with the Wheatfield Dreams Kit. For the card on the left, she paired the background texture with the Masking Stencils – Ovals set to frame the sunflower and wheat images. For the card on the right, Kelly layered the burlap texture with a panel stamped with the Buffalo Plaid Background for a rustic, homespun look.
Add shimmery accents to the cards you create with our with the Foil It – Wheatfield panels. Simply top the panels with the foil of your choice and run it through your foiling machine. Voilà – a beautiful pattern of shimmery wheat stalks! The Foil It – Wheatfield pack is a set of 12 pre-printed panels on TE Premium Cardstock (each measures 4″ x 5 1/4″).
Amy Kolling created a pretty color blend over gold foiled wheat with her Blender Brushes on this card that features a Foil It – Wheatfield panel. If you are planning on pairing foiling with ink blending, do your foiling first! Adding ink onto the panels before you foil can affect how it adheres to the design. The ‘happy birthday to you’ sentiment from the Just Saying stamp set is embossed in gold on an Oreo cardstock strip and I love how Amy layered the foiled panel onto a layer impressed with a Diagonal Stitch Rectangle Stacklets die – it frames the panel perfectly!
Lori Craig foiled a Foil It – Wheatfield panel in gold and used it as the background for her card. She foiled another panel and colored the wheat stalks that match the stamp from the Wheat Field Dreams stamp set using Copic markers, cut them out with the coordinating die, and added them over the plain foiled panel popped up a bit with foam adhesive. The sentiment is added on a die-cut circle and I love how the gold frame cut out with the A2 Thin Frame Cutting Plate die really finishes off the card nicely!
The Wheatfield Dreams Kit includes an exclusive mini container of Copper TE Fine Detail Embossing Powder that we don’t sell separately. Our embossing powders add just the right amount of sparkle, shine, or detail to your paper crafting projects. Our specially formulated powder offers smooth, superior coverage with no stray grains of powder, and crisply heat embosses fine lines and delicate details every time.
There is so much coppery goodness on this card by Emily Mydlowski that she created with the Wheatfield Dreams Kit. Emily embossed everything from the wheat stalks to the sentiment to the background with the copper embossing powder. The wheat stalks are colored with liquid watercolors and the sentiment that is embossed on a Double-Ended Flag Stacklets die is tucked behind it. The card background is cut out using the Frayed Edge Stacklets die collection and I love how the textured edges add to the rustic look of the card!
The Wheatfield Dreams Kit includes 6 envelopes and 6 custom envelope seals that coordinate with the theme of the kit. The six A2 envelopes are Mulled Wine, Honey, and Sweet Basil (2 of each color) and the coordinating envelope seals are made from durable, weatherproof material and are sure to bring a smile to the recipients of your cards.
Just like with all of our kits, additional Wheatfield Dreams Seals are available to purchase in packages of 10.
In addition to the Wheatfield Dreams Kit, we are releasing three new colors to our TE Liquid Watercolor line up! These new colors are available to purchase separately:
TE Liquid Watercolor is a bright, transparent, saturated watercolor liquid that blends, mixes and dilutes with water. Formulated to match TE Premium Ink and Cardstock, TE Liquid Watercolor comes in a wide variety of colors that can be diluted from full strength to create a range of colorful hues. We are excited to add Honey, Mulled Wine, and Sweet Basil to our liquid watercolor collection!
You might feel like if you can’t watercolor images then liquid watercolors aren’t for you, but that isn’t true! There are so many different techniques that you can do with liquid watercolor, like the background on this card by Jill Hawkins! You can either create a watercolor wash and apply multiple colors with your paintbrush or do a smooshing technique by adding drops of watercolor to a piece of acetate or media mat, mist with water, and press your watercolor cardstock into it. Jill embossed the wheat stalks onto watercolor cardstock before adding the color and wherever the embossing is, it resisted the watercolor.
Heather Nichols watercolored copper embossed sunflower images with liquid watercolor that she used on this card and tags set. She used Mulled Wine liquid watercolor for the sunflower petals, Chocolate Truffle for the flower center, and Sweet Basil for the stem. The sunflowers are layered onto tags that have foiled and blended backgrounds created with Foil It – Wheatfield panels. I love how Heather took one of the tags and added it to a card – it’s a great idea if you love tags, but need to add to your card stash too!
