The video today is from Heather Nichols using a few of the new products from the Stars & Stripes release. Watch below to see how Heather created this pair of shaker cards from start to finish:
In the video, Heather shows how she created two shaker cards, one traditional style and one infinity style, using the new Happy 4th of July stamp and Foil It Acetate – Happy 4th of July panels. She shows how to foil the large sentiment using multiple colors of Deco Foil to use with the traditional shaker card and stamp the sentiment using multiple colors of ink for the infinity shaker card.
Here’s a closer look at the cards that Heather created in the video:
Who knew it was so easy to foil with multiple colors? Just cut the different colored pieces of foil to size to cover the different areas of the design and send it through your Minc machine! This technique works well with simpler designs like the sentiment on the Foil It Acetate – Happy 4th of July panels and I am excited to go through my Foil It panels to see what other designs would work well to try with multiple colors!
The background of this traditional shaker card is Sugar Cube Cardstock that is impressed with the Rays Cut & Pierce Plate. Heather filled the shaker card with Bits & Pieces – Clay Stars and Bits & Pieces – Sparkly Stars and finished off the card with stars cut out with the Little Bits – Stars die from silver glitter cardstock.
On the infinity shaker card, Heather stamped the Happy 4th of July stamp with Sugar Cube ink first on Toffee cardstock and then she used mini ink cubes to ink up the ‘happy’ and ‘July’ words to stamp them in Cherry Pop and Blueberry inks. The layer of Sugar Cube ink under the colors makes the other ink colors pop a bit more on the Toffee cardstock! The panel is enclosed in an A2 Infinity Shaker Panel that is filled with Bits & Pieces – Clay Stars and Bits & Pieces – Stars & Sparkles. You’ll notice more silver glitter stars cut out with the Little Bits – Stars die and Heather finished off the card with a frame cut out with the A2 Thin Frame Cutting Plate die.
Check out the list below for all of the supplies that Heather used to create her cards:
The Foil It Acetate – Happy 4th of July panels feature the bold ‘Happy 4th of July’ sentiment printed with a toner ink so that you can top with foil and send through your Minc machine (a heat laminator works well to foil too!) Use the panels on interactive shaker cards so that the sentiment stands out over the festive shaker fillings.
Create a card that is ready to celebrate the 4th of July using the new Happy 4th of July stamp! This bold sentiment with a thin line detail fills up your A2 sized card front. Accent the sentiment with details and coordinating sentiments to customize your cards.
Jill Hawkins foiled a Foil It Acetate – Happy 4th of July panel with Silver Stars Deco Foil to create this patriotic infinity shaker card. The foiled panel is layered over a background created with the Fireworks Stamp & Stencil Combo set and framed with the largest frame from the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate die collection. Jill enclosed the panel in an A2 Infinity Shaker Panel along with Bits & Pieces – Clay Stars, Bits & Pieces – Sparkly Stars, and Snow Flurries sequins.
Melody Rupple stamped the Happy 4th of July stamp in Cherry Pop and Blueberry inks (our mini ink cubes work great to ink stamps with multiple colors) to use as the background on this patriotic shaker card. The shaker card is filled with the new Bits & Pieces – Stars & Sparkles and framed with a new Mix & Match cutting plate die that you’ll learn more about below.
Frame up your patriotic cards in style using the new Mix & Match – Stars & Stripes Cutting Plate die collection. There are individual dies for the top and bottom portions of the frame so you can cut them from different cardstock colors, use the same or different patterns to complete your frame, and more!
Jen Shults cut out the Mix & Match – Stars & Stripes Cutting Plate from Blueberry and Cherry Pop cardstock for this card. The card background is blended with Confetti Cake and Cookie Monster inks to create an ombre look with silver glitter cardstock stars, cut out with the Starstruck dies, layered over the top. The ‘let’s celebrate’ sentiment from the It’s Your Day stamp set (+ coordinating dies) is embossed in white on Blue Corn cardstock.
Add shimmery accents to the cards you create with our Starstruck Stamp, Stencil, & Clear Combo set paired with the new Foil It – Starstruck panels and the Fireworks Stamp & Stencil Combo set paired with the new Foil It – Fireworks panels (all sold separately). Simply top the panels with foil and send them through your foiling machine of choice, add color and pattern with the coordinating stencils and stamps. The result is a beautiful pattern of shiny stars and fireworks! You can choose to leave the panels as is to use them as well. The Foil It packs are a set of 12 pre-printed panels on TE Premium Cardstock (each measures 4″ x 5 1/4″).
This card celebrating the 4th of July by Heather Nichols features one of the new Foil It – Starstruck panels. Heather foiled the panel with Gold Shattered Glass Deco Foil and used the stencils and clear stamps from the Starstruck Stamp, Stencil, & Clear Combo set to add stars with Cherry Pop and Mulled Wine inks, starbursts with Blueberry and Blue Corn inks, and stars stamped with Blue Corn ink. The ‘Happy 4th of July’ sentiment is from the new Land That I Love stamp set that you will hear more about in just a bit!
This pair of patriotic cards were created by Noriko Fairchild with the new Foil It – Fireworks panels and Fireworks Stamp & Stencil Combo set. She foiled the panels using Silver Stars Deco Foil and added the fireworks bursts with Cherry pop and Blueberry inks. The sentiments from the new Land That I Love stamp set are embossed in white and Noriko added Bits & Pieces – Silver Drip Drops to one card and Bits & Pieces – Red Pearl Drip Drops to the other for a finishing touch.
Our Statue of Liberty die is shaped like the outline of Lady Liberty herself! Use it to celebrate the 4th of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, or other patriotic themed projects.
Jen Shults used her amazing Copic marker coloring skills to add shading to the State of Liberty die cut to create a realistic look! She added Lady Liberty to a city scene that she created with the Downtown Border die and a Foil It – Fireworks panel that is foiled in silver with ink blending to look like the night sky. The ‘land that I love’ sentiment is from the new Land That I Love stamp set (+ coordinating dies).
The Star Spangled Banner stamp is an easy way to make patriotic cards for the 4th of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and more. Traditional stars and stripes on a waving flag design cascades across the long side of a horizontal A2 card front leaving space the the bottom of the card for the sentiment of your choice.
Kavya did a little faux watercolor magic with the Star Spangled Banner stamp to create this 4th of July card! She stamped the flag with Blueberry and Cherry Pop inks and then added watercoloring around the stamped image with coordinating colors. She added lots of white splatters and the ‘Happy 4th of July’ sentiment from the Land That I Love stamp set embossed in white on Cherry Pop cardstock.
You have already seen many of the sentiments from the Land That I Love stamp set (+ coordinating dies) used on projects by the TE Creative Team in this post! Make a statement with your patriotic cards when you use the sentiments from our Land That I Love stamp set. Featuring a trendy serif font with extra tails and flourishes, the sentiments include:
- celebrate freedom
- God bless America
- Happy 4th of July
- land that I love
- stars & stripes forever
Emily Mydlowski created a pair of cards to celebrate the red, white, and blue that both feature sentiments from the new Land that I Love stamp set (+ coordinating dies). The backgrounds on both of the cards are created with the Bokeh Stars Layering Stencil set and I love how Emily added shimmer and shine to both cards in different ways. The card on the left has a foiled background layer created with a Foil It – Fireworks panel and silver foil cardstock stars cut out with the new Little Bits – Stars die. For the card on the right, Emily used Happy Medium – Silver Glitter for one of the layers of the Bokeh Stars Layering Stencil along with more silver foil cardstock stars.
Finally for today are a few products that are perfect for embellishing your patriotic projects – and more!
The Little Bits – Stars die is an individual die that will cut a variety of sizes of a star shape. Run the die through with different colors of cardstock and combine to create custom confetti, shaker filler, or embellishments for a variety of cards and crafts. If you attended Virtual Stamp Joy Spring 2022, you will have already received the Little Bits – Stars die as part of your supplies for that event.
TE’s Bits & Pieces collection is designed to help you put the finishing touch on your cards and crafts. These unique embellishments are easy to apply with a drop of glue and will instantly add dimension to your projects.
- Bits & Pieces – Clay Stars are an easy way to accent your patriotic, birthday, baby themed cards and more, or can be used as a fun filling with shaker cards. The confetti consists of tiny white clay stars that make it simple to embellish all kinds of projects.
- Bits & Pieces – Stars & Sparkles is a confetti mix of red, white, and silver stars and tiny circles that are perfect to embellish and use as shaker card filling for projects celebrating the red, white, and blue!
