Guest Blogger: Pop! Goes the Birthday + a Giveaway with Vera Yates!
Hey there, crafty friends! We hope you’ve been tuning in all month to visit with our friend and Guest Blogger, Vera Yates. If you missed her darling card projects, you can catch them HERE and HERE. Here is the adorable card Vera created for her second project with us…
I love playing with cute critter stamps. I was brainstorming what kind of card I wanted to make with with the Balloon Buddies set and I thought, “I want to go all out with this set!” So, instead of a simple card, this time I decided to do an interactive, 3D kind of card. This box card can totally be mailed out as you can flatten the card completely (see below). Then when you take it out from the envelope, simply squeeze the side and pop up the box!
This is such a fun project to make. (Note: Vera’s card is a variant on the “Card in a Box” or “Pop-up Box Card” — you can find a helpful tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers HERE.) I attached the critters to the dividers in the middle.
After I made the box, I stamped, die-cut (Balloon Buddies coordinating die set) and colored all the images. I used the Sweet Tooth Tower for the background to ground all the critters. I adhered the cupcake tower to the top lid, then stamped the sentiment on the next lid. Afterwards, I adhere all the critters to the other parts of the box. On the dog and the bunny, I only added glue on their paws to adhere them to the box insert. Where the elephant and the monkey are, I decided to adhere the extra lids to the box (you can skip this step if you’d like).
Now, when you’re ready to mail out the card, simply flatten the card and the critters are ready to go. Isn’t it fun? You can send out a fancy-shmancy card while using standard postage. I think anyone who receives this card would love how festive and fun it is!
