Blog Design Team: They Say It’s Your Birthday!
Hey there, crafty friends! Today is a special day because it’s Blog Design Team member Isha Gupta‘s first official blog post since joining the team! She’s put together a chic, yet charming, birthday card that would help celebrate anyone’s big day! Check it out below…
And now, here’s Isha to tell us all about her project…
I created this card as I love the color combination of black and gold with a pop of color. I always need birthday cards, so I try to make extra to have on hand. (My daughters and hubby ask me for them all the time!)
For this card, I used my favorite new embossing
folder — Weathered. I really love the effect of it. I inked the embossing folder
and then embossed the black mat layer — this gives a beautiful
letterpress look. I die-cut the frame using the scalloped square and the
smaller square from the Build a Tag 2 die set and the Skinny Mini Party Banners from gold
foil cardstock. I die-cut the scalloped square using white cardstock.I
created the cake by stamping the image onto watercolor paper and then
colored it using distress inks. Next, I applied 3D foam to the back of the
gold frame and adhered it to the white scalloped square. Because I angled the party banner, I found that it did not quite reach the edges of my panel. Now, here is a tip: to fit the banner behind a focal image, simply snip it at the point where it will be hidden behind the focus. No one will
know once you adhere the focal panel (in this case the scalloped frame.)
Thank you for sharing this cute card with us today, Isha! You’ve inspired us to build up our birthday card stash, for sure. You can find more of Isha’s fabulous work on her blog, New Ideas. Have a joyful day!
