For my sister
My little sister leaves on a mission trip to Ghana this week and I made this journal for her to take with her. She’s a little bit nervous about the trip, but I’m so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone to make the world a better place. Love you, Hannah!! I filled the journal with pictures of our family and Bible verses and then lots of empty space for journaling.
The journal started out as an 8.5×11 composition book. I first covered it with some KI Memories paper that I’ve had *for-evah* and also some Certainly Celery CS that I stamped with Seeing Spots (LOVE that set!). I was going to put ribbon all over it, but figured that probably wouldn’t travel well to Ghana and back…. LOL! So instead I attached a strip of Pixie Pink cardstock stamped with words that describe my sis (fun, friend, intelligent, pretty, fashionable, sweet, spunky, etc.). For the words I used my Karen Foster snap stamps which are my newest must have… I use them on just about everything! Then I worked on the monogram… I punched out the chipboard letter and decided to use the remainder instead to do a little shaker monogram. Covered the chipboard with Pixie Pink craft ink… so easy! Added transparency, pop up tape, and some beads and *voila*…. cute little shaker! I had a sheet of bunches of matching sentiments so I made a ribbon slide out of the No Boys Allowed and decided to use the Eleanor Roosevelt quote about facing your fears. Also… I just can’t stay away from the white gel pen so I added some little polka dot accents here and here. All tied together with some wide striped May Arts ribbon and a little Pixie Pink grosgrain. The ribbon closure just slides off whenever she wants to write in it. Oh… and how can I forget the cute little Making Memories enamel flower charm! 🙂
