Chipboard Coaster Gift Box
You know those chipboard coasters that have been all the talk lately?? Well, I was lucky enough to get in on a big purchase of them so I didn’t have to have 1,000 of them for myself! I was brainstorming with a friend the other day on the possible uses for the coasters and she came up with an awesome idea to make a little box! Shelley (photocropper) is a genius and I couldn’t wait to try this! I covered each 4″ square coaster with papers from the Holiday Thyme designer pack, sanded the edges, and punched five holes in each side of each coaster. Actually, I had to have my hubby punch most of the holes because my hand felt like it was bruising after the first five punches. *rolleyes* I muse be a wuss! As I began tying the coasters together with ribbon, I quickly realized that I was out of Cranberry and Thyme stitched ribbon. My SU! order is supposed to arrive today, but I was so anxious to finish the little box that I tried to find other ribbons that would work. I think I’ll end up swapping some of them out once I get my order today. Anyway, after tying them all together I adhered a coaster to the bottom to close the box. I just used Mono-Multi glue and it seems to be holding together just fine. I wouldn’t go throwing it around though because I’m sure it would come unglued. I stuffed a large cello bag full of Hershey Hugs and tied it off with Olive grosgrain and a chipboard tag (cut from my new Cuttlebug!). I put the bag of Hugs inside the box and used some sparkly grass as filler. The ornament stamp on the front is a new one I got this past weekend. The manufacturer is Stampabilities. The ornament is covered with stardust Stickles. I’ve still got some ideas rolling around in my head for these chipboard coasters! This week is crazy trying to catch up from being gone over the holidays, but hopefully I will get a chance to play some more! Thanks for looking!
