A “Joy”ous Birthday
I’m sure you all know Joy from Eclectic Paperie, right?? Well, yesterday was Joy’s birthday and this is the card I made for her. I even used paper and stamps I bought from EP to create it! *grin* Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Joy! The layout is from one of Beate’s sketch challenges. I just love her sketches… such a great starting point! The card base is Regal Rose stamped with Rhonna Farrer swirls in Versamagic Cloud White ink. The patterned paper is Chatterbox Cottage Lilacs. I liked this paper so much that I used up the whole sheet to make 10 different cards. You’ll probably be seeing a lot of this pattern this week! I used the Pallette ‘o Prints from SU for the scalloped circle and the oval. The Ruffled Butterfly image is from Stampendous and can also be purchased from Eclectic Paperie. I colored the image with an aquapainter and highlighted with Crystal Stickles. I used the SU oval punches and my PaperTrey Faux Ribbon set for the sentiment. The gems are called Jewel Droplets and they’re made by AdornIt (Carolee’s Creations). I picked them up at a local scrapbook store.
I hope you all had a nice, long holiday weekend! I had quite the scare in the car yesterday while I was returning from a weekend at my parents! My breaks suddenly stopped working on the freeway (while going about 80 mph!). I tried to stop quickly as traffic was stopping ahead of me and there were NO BREAKS!! I narrowly avoided an accident, and then promptly freaked out! I managed to make my way across six lanes of traffic to exit the freeway. Luckily I was only about 10 miles from home so I shifted into first gear and traveled on side streets until I reached home. Talk about scary! Today will be spent trying to figure out a way to get the car fixed before I have to teach my class at the local scrapbook store on Wednesday night!
