Introducing Apple Doodle Ink!
Welcome to the first day of sneak peeks for the February Release at Taylored Expressions! Thanks to you and your loyal support, Taylored Expressions continues to get bigger and better! Today we’re excited to announce the addition of a new collection of rubber stamps called Apple Doodle Ink! We’re launching this FUN new line with two stamp sets designed to coordinate perfectly together – Window Shopping and Bakery Business.
I’ve been working with a new illustrator on the Apple Doodle Ink stamps and I’m excited to share more about how the original concept for these first two sets came to be! When we moved into our new house this past summer we set up Taylored Expressions in the basement. As TE became my full-time job I was looking for something to make the basement more fun and sweet. I thought a mural would be the perfect way to define the space! Little did I know that an amazing mural painter was right in my backyard. When I mentioned that I wanted to have a mural painted in the basement, my dad recommended just the right guy for the job… one of the pastors he works with at his church! I spent a few days brainstorming ideas and I kept coming back to two of my favorite things…cupcakes and crafts! I wanted the mural designed to look like a store window with both sweets and crafts stored in pretty glass pedestals. I immediately thought how cool it would be to have the same concept in stamps and so Bakery Business and Window Shopping were born!
Here are a few sneak peek projects that I created using Bakery Business and Window Shopping. I had so much fun putting together the scene inside the window! The possibilities are endless with a little Eclipse Masking Tape! I paper pieced the awning and apron with My Mind’s Eye Ooh La La patterned papers and colored the images with Copic markers. Then I covered the window with an acetate sheet to make it look like a real glass store front. I popped up the sentiment outside the window and added a polymer clay button from the Valentine button collection. This card uses the vertical window, but I wanted to do another one so I could show you the horizontal window too (well, that and the fact that I wanted to color these fun images some more!). I used the same patterned paper collection and paper pieced the awning. I stamped and colored the images with Copic markers and then covered the entire store window with Glossy Accents. You can’t see it very well in the picture, but it adds the perfect finishing touch! I also wanted to create a sweet treat that I’ve had on my list of things to try for a long time! Have you seen all the rage about cupcakes in a jar!? I just had to test them out for myself! Plus, Jon loves it when my blog projects require baked goods so it was a win-win. *grin* I purchased several standard size Mason jars (for canning) from Michaels. Then I baked a batch of cupcakes (the kind from a box…of course!). After the cupcakes had cooled, I dropped one inside the jar, covered it with frosting and sprinkles, dropped a second cupcake into the jar, and covered it with more frosting and sprinkles! After sealing the jars I added patterned paper to the lid and created tags for each of the jars using our Tag Treats die cut and the Bakery Business stamp set. It was such a quick and easy project and the cupcakes stay moist and fresh inside the jar for several days! I colored the images with Copics, added a touch of Crystal Stickles and tied the tag onto each jar with some green polka dot ribbon.
That’s all I have to share for sneak peeks today, but you’ll definitely want to check out the rest of the sneak peek creations from the Baker’s Dozen:
