Happy Trails Christmas Card
Hey there! I figured it’s never too early to start on Christmas cards and this idea has been rolling around in my head since we released the Happy Trails stamp set. I finally had a chance to sit down and get crafty last night! Here’s what I came up with:
As this set was being designed I had this little lightbulb moment and I thought “Hey, I wonder if that tree fits on top of the car?” Have you seen the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation movie? This card was inspired by the Griswald’s trip to find the perfect tree. Click here for a quick clip of this scene from the movie. HILARIOUS!
I stamped the station wagon from Happy Trails onto Choice Buttercream with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored it with Copics (R35, R37, R39, E55, E57, Y21). The silver portions of the car were colored with silver paint pen and I added pewter brads to the center of the wheels. The tree was stamped in Colorbox Olive Pastel ink and I colored the trunk with E57 Copic. Then I added some white liquid applique to the branches for the ‘snow’ effect. The scene was cut out and layered using the Spellbinders Labels 17 die. The Merry Christmas sentiment is from the Woodland Winter set. I stamped the banner from It’s a Banner Day 1, colored it with Copics (YG93, YG95), and cut it out with the Banner Day 1 die. Across the Miles from the Banner Holidays set was stamped on Choice Buttercream, cut out by hand, and layered over the banner. The patterned paper is from the new Authentique Festive 6×6 pad. Then to finish it off I added some olive/cream dot ribbon!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
