Baker’s Dozen Studio Challenge – August

Hey there! Today the Baker’s Dozen and I are back again with our second Studio Challenge. Each month we dig into our stamp studio to answer a fun question or participate in a challenge where we’ll share some of our favorites, tips & tricks, and ultimately a view inside what makes our studios hummmmmm!
Our challenge for this month was a tough one for me:

    PROJECT
RUNWAY!  Do you watch this show?  It’s perfect for creative types like
us!  On PR, the designers are given crazy challenges each week and asked
to maintain their own personal style or point of view in their
    creation.

    So,
what’s your stamping style or point of view?  Would you consider your
style to be Clean and Simple, Cutesy, Graphic, Vintage, Elegant,
Layers & More Layers, or what?  Describe it any way you like, it’s your style
after all!  Today’s challenge is to show two different
projects using the same supplies.  One card should be clean and simple and one fancy fold card while still retaining your own personal style as much as
    possible.

So, how would I describe my style? I guess I haven’t thought about the answer to this question before. I suppose I would describe my style as clean, cutesy, and bright, but probably not simple. In fact, I’m pretty sure I failed at the ‘simple’ part of the clean and simple card challenge. Here’s my clean and complicated card…lol

So it definitely has a clean look, but it took me a good hour to color everything, cut the pennants, adhere all the rhinestones, and paper piece the layers onto the cupcake tray. So I lose the ‘clean and simple’ challenge, but I had fun attempting it! *wink*
I’ve been teaching a few fancy fold card classes this summer, so the fancy fold seemed right up my alley. I received several birthday cards earlier this summer and one of them used this fold. I’ve been wanting to try it ever since. Perhaps there’s already a tutorial out there, but I’m including a quick picture tutorial and I’m calling this the triangle pop up card:

Please note that I traced over the photos with black lines so that it was easier to see where the scoring should go. Of course you don’t want to make actual black lines on your card base! *grin*

I used the stamp set For the Love of Cupcakes on both of my cards (and remembered how much I love this set!):

In addition to the stamp set, I also used patterned paper from the My Mind’s Eye Lime Twist Life of the Party collection (whew… that’s a mouthful!), the pennant border die, Spellbiders Lacey Squares, Island Lagoon & Yellow rhinestones.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Keep hopping along to read about the Baker’s Dozen personal styles and see their fabulous projects!
