Sympathy Cards for Share Joy
Hey there & happy Thursday! We arrived home from CHA over the weekend and we’ve been busy getting orders out the door and following up with the new friends we met at our booth. And wouldn’t you know it, I brought home a little souvenir from Vegas… a sore throat and cold. I’m at about half-voice now and wondering if my full voice will be gone in the next couple of days. I’ve actually never lost my voice before so it’s a new experience (trying to find the positive)! *wink*
With our Share Joy Campaign in full swing I decided to make a batch of sympathy cards to donate to the hospital chaplains that we’re supporting through our initial card drive. If you haven’t heard about Share Joy, you can learn more here about how you can make a difference by donating your handmade cards to bring patients and their families joy, encouragement, and hope. Share Joy is about joining together and using what we’ve been given to make a difference in the lives of others. Whether you use products purchased from TE or from somewhere else, it doesn’t matter. As long as the card is made with love it will be received with love! Thank you to everyone who has sent handmade cards to us so far!
While sympathy cards aren’t fun to send, I do enjoy the design process. I always try to make cards for this occasion
clean, simple, and soothing. No neon pinks or fussy designs as it’s more
about the heartfelt message on the inside of the card. I chose this design because it’s easy to duplicate and you get three cards out of one stamped image.
I started by selecting the three panel colors and pulling out the stamp sets I wanted to use. I chose Discover Your Wings for the image and a sentiment from Care & Comfort. I cut each piece of colored cardstock to 3.75″ x 4.75″, stamped the flower image in Versamark, and embossed the design in clear embossing powder. Then I cut each piece evenly apart (approximately 1.58″ each). I mixed and matched the panels to re-create the design with three different colored panels. Here’s a closer look at the embossed design:
I adhered the panels to a piece of Choice Buttercream cardstock (4″ x 5.25″) with foam tape and added a bit of thin jute from my stash. The card base is Choice Kraft cardstock. I stamped the sentiment and used the We R Memory scallop corner chomper to create the detail.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
