Taylored Expressions August Sneak Peek: Sweet Summer
Hey there crafty friends! After setting aside our product release in July to make room for our new web store launch and trip to Summer CHA, I find myself especially excited to get started with sneak peeks for our August release! The Baker’s Dozen and I have been busy creating projects using 10 stamp sets and 14 new die sets. Yep… it’s that BIG!
My sneak peeks for today share some sweet icons of summer; a glass of chilled lemonade and butterflies in the sky. For my first project I used the Hey, Sweet Tea stamp set and coordinating Mason Jar Glass & Lid dies:
Did you need to get out your sunglasses for this one? I wanted something bright and fresh to go with the lemonade image so I grabbed my Ray of Sunshine cutting plate and several teal patterned papers to paper piece the background. After coloring the image with Copics I cut it out with the coordinating mason jar glass die. And my favorite part is the lid die that you can insert a little straw into. Love that! I layered the image onto circle die cuts and the Pinking Circle Stacklet. To finish it off I added the sentiment and two yellow enamel dots.
For my second card I used the stamp set, Butterfly Parade. The concept for these cute patterned butterflies is the brain child of Baker’s Dozen member Wanda and was brought to life by Nancy with these beautiful illustrations. In my opinion, butterfly stamps are like flower stamps…there’s always room for more in any stamp collection!
I started by sponging the background using the Cloud Border Die and Copic airbrush. I arranged the solid butterflies (cut out using the Butterfly in the Sky coordinating dies) in flight on the card front. Then I stamped one of the large patterned butterflies onto vellum and embossed with white embossing powder. I layered the large vellum butterfly over the solid cardstock version and added rhinestones to the center of each. The sentiment is from the new Zinnia Bouquet set.
You’ll find a full array of stamps being peeked on the Baker’s Dozen blogs today so make sure you stop by to check ’em out!
